We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated IT System Administrator with a rounded skill set, to join our dynamic team.  This position will be based in our London office (three days a week in the office) and will play a vital role as a member of the UK Internal IT Team.  The successful candidate will collaborate closely with IT Support Analysts and be part of the wider Global Internal IT Team.

As a System Administrator at The StepStone Group, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing our Internal IT Systems and Infrastructure, ensuring seamless operations across various technologies and platforms. 

The person should have hands-on experience of a wide range of technologies, including; excellent networking skills and technologies (MPLS, Meraki, classic Cisco), ISE, WLC, Active Directory (hybrid), O365, VMWare, storage technologies, phone system administration, cloud technologies experience, Okta, KACE (or similar), JAMF, scripting and automation and utilising APIs.

The ideal candidate should be customer focussed, have excellent communication skills and experience in supporting IT support analysts in the IT Service Desk, from a technical perspective. 

Job Description

  • System Administration for our UK Internal IT servers, network devices, other IT infrastructure and Internal IT Services.  For example, services such as; identity services, phone service, meeting room administration, AV systems etc.
  • Sys Admin escalation point, for the UK IT Service Desk Team and for Internal IT Services.
  • Excellent network knowledge and skills are very important, including; maintenance, troubleshooting of existing setups and the setup of new network environments/offices across the UK.  Working with technologies such as MPLS, Meraki and classic Cisco equipment.  Ensuring smooth network operations, and an excellent understanding of networks technologies such as Wi-Fi, NAC, VPNs, ISE and WLC.    
  • Supporting all our UK offices from a network connectivity perspective proactively, working with Stakeholder, Suppliers and troubleshooting network incidents.
  • Working on infrastructure and migration projects.
  • Perform routine systems monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of IT infrastructure and IT services.
  • Updating images and packages within KACE and JAMF.
  • MacOS troubleshooting and MDM administration.
  • Manage and maintain the company's Active Directory infrastructure, ensuring user accounts, permissions, and security policies are appropriately configured and updated. 
  • Administer the UK VMWare environment, including provisioning, monitoring, and troubleshooting virtual machines.
  • Handle storage technologies, optimizing storage capacity and performance, and implementing data backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Creating and maintaining scripts (PowerShell, Bash, etc.) to automate routine tasks, enhance system efficiency, working with the IT Support Analysts and streamlining processes.
  • Familiarity with APIs and the ability to integrate systems and services to improve overall infrastructure functionality.
  • Leading and participation in Internal IT projects, working closely with users, suppliers, and Stakeholders. 
  • Provide technical support to end-users.
  • Providing recommendations and reporting of IT infrastructure, to the Head of Internal IT.
  • Work collaboratively with the IT Support Analysts, contributing to the success of the IT Service Desk with your technical expertise.
  • Working with our IT Systems Administrators and Internal IT Teams across the Group.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a System Administrator, showcasing all-round skills in the mentioned technologies and platforms.
  • Degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience, desirable.
  • In-depth knowledge of MS Windows 11, Windows Server 2016-2019 and O365.  Including setup, configuration, and administration.
  • Excellent understanding of network technologies, including MPLS, Meraki, and classic Cisco equipment.
  • Experience with ISE and WLC desirable.  CCNA or equivalent would be ideal.
  • Nexus, storage and fibre channel knowledge, desirable. 
  • IT Service Desk experience, 1st to 3rd line, including supporting analysts with incidents, requests, and project work.
  • Excellent knowledge of Active Directory fundamentals, VMWare, and storage technologies.
  • Virtualisation technology experience, VMware or similar, including patching the infrastructure.
  • Ring Central administration.
  • KACE (or similar technology) updating builds, packing, scripting, and reporting.
  • Mac OS and JAMF administration, including packaging experience.
  • Experience of configuring and administrating Logitech meeting room systems.
  • Experience in Azure / AWS and other cloud-based services would be a benefit.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like PowerShell and/or Bash for automation purposes.
  • Experience in working with APIs and integrating systems effectively.
  • Strong Security focused mindset with working knowledge of CrowdStrike and web proxy.
  • Strong customer and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and internal end users.
