Wastewater Treatment Engineer at Brown and Caldwell

Job Descrption

Brown and Caldwell’s Seattle office has an opening for a self-motivated, entry-level engineer with 0 to 3 years of experience to work on projects related to wastewater, biological wastewater processes, water reuse, and process mechanical design. Detailed Description: 

  • Work closely with project managers and other team members to execute work involving wastewater, process mechanical design, water reuse and biological and chemical process engineering.
  • Conduct technical evaluations to support planning and design related activities.
  • Provide support on a variety of environmental engineering and master planning projects.
  • Assist with the preparation of calculations, technical memoranda, reports, drawings, specifications, and miscellaneous contract documents.
  • Perform biological process modeling using simulator software.
  • Check performance or conformity with plans and specifications as part of engineering services during construction.
  • Assist with submittal reviews, requests for information, correspondence, change requests, and change orders for construction projects.
  • Conduct field work as necessary for various projects.
  • Communicate effectively and coordinate with project teams including other disciplines (drafters, designers, and other engineers).
  • Successfully manage and deliver assignments on time and on budget.
  • Adhere to Brown and Caldwell’s QA/QC process.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Self-starter, results-oriented, and ability to work under deadlines.
  • Desire to work on projects related to drinking water, water reuse, green infrastructure and wastewater.
  • Plan to obtain Washington PE
  • Good technical skills with the ability to articulate ideas and concepts.
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and on large coordinated teams.
  • Ability and willingness to perform field work at various sites.
  • Knowledge of standard software including MS Office, Outlook, MathCAD and Bluebeam.
  • Strong aptitude for researching and solving technical problems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s or Doctorate degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or Chemical Engineering with a focus on wastewater treatment processes.
  • EIT preferred.
  • Experience with laboratory or pilot scale testing preferred.
  • Knowledge of process simulator software package like BioWin or SUMO preferred.

Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Location B: $77,000 - $105,000
