Sustainability Specialist


Aztec West, Bristol - with flexibility of working from home 2 days a week.


Are you experienced in large infrastructure or complex industrial development projects and looking for the next step in your career? Do you have skills in managing and reviewing of sustainability KPIs?  Are you experienced in implementing and maintaining sustainability strategies and objectives?

The Opportunity...


At Hinkley Point C (HPC) we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.


As a Sustainability Specialist you will be part of the Environment Team, where you'll be the go-to expert for sustainability at Hinkley Point C. You'll drive best practices throughout the project lifecycle, from design to decommissioning, working closely with construction, and leveraging EDF’s expertise.


This role offers a chance to be part of one of Europe's largest projects, crucial for the UK's energy future.

What you’ll be doing…

 

  • Developing performance measures and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in collaboration with project managers/directors and construction contractors to evaluate project and contractor performance and risks.
  • Managing and promoting the environmental reporting system at HPC to ensure accurate and reliable data collection.
  • Leading the compilation and assurance of project sustainability reporting for corporate reporting, including ESOS, SECR, CSRD and related requirements.
  • Representing NNB on sustainability issues at an EDF corporate level, contributing to the development of company positions, policies, and initiatives, and ensuring implementation within NNB.
  • Supporting sustainability communications and engagement campaigns in coordination with the NNB Communications team for internal and external communications.
  • Providing strategic oversight and governance over NNB sustainability, identifying gaps, risks, performance, and opportunities in NNB processes, activities, and capabilities.


Who you are…


Your background may include some of the following:

 

  • Experience in embedding sustainability into large infrastructure or complex industrial development projects, with a focus on large construction projects being advantageous.
  • Strong skills in data management, supporting the managing the measurement and review of sustainability KPIs. Experience in data tools such as PowerBI would be beneficial.
  • Proven ability to develop, implement, and maintain sustainability strategies and objectives. Communicating those ideas and themes will be a key responsibility of the role.
  • Demonstrated capability to drive behaviour change through influencing and making a business case for action with internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Ideally, a degree or equivalent qualification in a related discipline with elements of sustainability or sustainable construction.
