What You’ll Do

SimpliSafe is seeking a self-starting, dependable, and customer-oriented candidate to join our Permits team, specializing in Renewals & Invoicing. This role can be based out of either Boston, MA or Richmond, VA. 

This role requires a high level of attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and strong relationship-building skills. Primary responsibilities include: 

  • Receive and process initial permit fees, renewal fees and false alarm fines. 
    • As of today, SimpliSafe is responsible for ensuring payment to 38 municipalities, though this number is likely to grow as we continue to scale
  • Keep detailed records on all incoming and outgoing finances to ensure all applicable expenses are recouped
  • Maintain detailed tracking of all fines and fees related to each municipality
  • Submit payment for initial permit fees, renewal fees and false alarm fines using Coupa or Deluxe eChecks
  • Facilitate communication between the permits team and the municipalities when related to billing and expenses, including instances of overpayment or underpayment to ensure we remain in compliance with regulations
  • Conduct monthly audits to ensure all recuperation processes have been followed, escalating issues where there are gaps in recuperation
  • Handle all manual work involved in the bulk billing process, including manually updating file formats and manually auditing for errors
  • Assist permits manager with invoicing requests and any other permits billing needs that may arise

What You’ll Bring

  • Strong time-management skills and calendar management skills
  • Strong relationship management skills; must feel comfortable to own relationships with SimpliSafe customers and the municipalities we partner with

  • Proficient in Google Suites (Gmail, Sheets, Docs, Drive)
  • Strong command of Microsoft Excel
  • Exemplary organizational skills, particularly in digital information management and digital account management
  • Clear, effective email communication skills
  • Familiar with navigating virtual communication mediums such as Zoom or Google Meet
  • A history of researching and validating credible sources of information
  • Experience working with city and local government agencies a plus

Must be eligible for certification as an electronic security employee, which requires submitting your fingerprints to the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) for use in conducting a national criminal records search and a Virginia criminal history search and final certification approval from DCJS.
