What You’ll Do

Our Video/Media & AI team develops and maintains a microservices architecture for video recording/playback and is looking for a top-notch Software Engineer to join our team.  Our services are built mainly in Node.js / Typescript (with some services in python/go/c#) with a backend mostly in mongodb, mySql, docDB (mix of on prem and AWS technologies including KVS and EKS), so experience with these technologies is preferred. In this team, you’ll help us maintain the high degrees of reliability and performance needed to make every home secure, while supporting the introduction of exciting new features/capabilities for years to come.

Primary responsibilities include: 

• Build solutions from their inception through to production - from design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance
• Collaborate with product owners to translate business requirements into platform capabilities that deliver value for our customers - both now and in the future
• Work on microservices which are:
• Small and independent
• Easy to learn, change, and extend
• Be collaborative by nature
• Be familiar with building consensus to solve technical challenges
• Enjoy challenges and problem solving; help to scale the team’s work and accelerate delivery via continuous improvement

What You’ll Bring

The ideal candidate has experience developing in one or more of our languages

• Professional software development experience with a track record of delivering flexible, reliable, cloud-based APIs using one of Nodejs, Typescript, golang, C#, Java, or C++.
• Working familiarity with at least one other language and a willingness to work in a polyglot development environment.
• Thorough understanding of REST/grpc and web technology.
• Experience with cloud technology (AWS preferred) and designing solutions that leverage its unique advantages.
• Collaborative mindset and a passion for technology and learning
• Practitioner of lean or agile software development principles and practices, understanding the importance of test automation, continuous delivery, continuous improvement, and value delivery.

Nice to haves:

• • 1-2 years of professional development experience
  • Experience with terraform
  • Experience with go
  • Experience with c#
  • Experience with video / media processing (encoding/decoding, streaming, codecs, ffmpeg, webRTC, etc.)
  • Experience with IoT environments
