Job Description

• Department: Platform Operations
• Team: Platform Operations Engineering
• Salary: £27,000-£30,000 + Comprehensive benefits package.
• Location: Hessle or Prudhoe - (minimum 3 days a week in office)

Role Overview

Platform Operations and in turn Platform Operations Engineering is responsible for the performance, stability, reliability, and security of our customer facing platforms across Cloud, Comms, Distribution and Hardware. It is a multi-disciplined department consisting of Platform Support Engineers, Platform Operations Engineers, Platform Observability Engineers, and Platform Specialist Engineers who work closely with the other departments and teams across Platform Product and the wider business.

This is a Technical and varied role offering the successful candidate the opportunity to work with all stakeholders across the business, very much in a value-add capacity. As well as providing general platform support, you will help support the other areas of Platform Operations developing and running infrastructure for the application to make sure the customer platforms can handle the expected load and recover from failures. Training will be available to develop specific skills required for the role.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

• Collaborate with other Software Developers, Business Analysts and Software Architects to plan, design, develop, test, and maintain existing and new applications.
• Maintain high standards of software quality within the team by establishing or maintaining consistency with existing good practices and habits.
• Identify and encourage areas for growth and improvement within the team.
• Design, develop, and unit test applications in accordance with established standards.
• Support deployment of releases.
• Adhere to Giacom development principles while delivering solutions.
• Develop, refine, and tune integrations between applications.
• Plan and implement strategies to migrate legacy code bases to modern standards and/or technologies.
• Implement integrations requested by customers.
• Deploy updates and fixes.
• Build tools to reduce occurrences of errors and improve customer experience.
• Develop software to integrate with internal back-end systems.
• Investigate and resolve technical issues.
• Develop scripts to automate visualization.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a Software Development role across the full software development lifecycle.
• Experience of support & developing on medium to large scale applications
• Experience of Version Control e.g. GIT
• Knowledge of OOP, MVC, JSON/XML APIs
• Experience of Ruby or Python
• Working knowledge of databases and SQL
• Problem-solving attitude
• Experience of working within AWS services
