We are recruiting for a full-time Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Cardiff that supports pupils with Special Educational Needs. The role will consist of working on a 1:1 basis with a pupil aged 6; you will be assisting with numeracy and literacy catch up sessions, leading quiet reading time and also help develop their mental wellbeing.

The school itself has been renowned for its commitment to developing pupil’s education whilst having a focus on supporting children’s wellbeing as well as at home learning.

The role is confirmed for an immediate start until the end of the academic year, working 5 days a week, 08:30 to 15:30. Depending on experience, this role will pay £80-90 per day. 

Requirements

You will be: 

·      Working on a 1:1 basis with a pupil with Special Educational Needs. 

·      Creating and maintaining a safe and positive environment for pupils to learn in. 

·      Assisting the class teacher with creating and delivering lesson materials. 

·      Collaborating with staff and parents/guardians to support with in class and at home learning.

To be successful in this role, you will need at least 40 days of relevant experience working or volunteering in an educational setting across the last 2 years. You will need to have a calm and positive attitude within the classroom. As well as this, you will need to be confident working with children with challenging behavioural needs and show you are committed to supporting children with additional learning needs.
