The Role:

WeTransfer is looking for a full-time Digital & Performance Marketing Manager to support the Director, Digital & Performance Marketing in creating an optimized user journey & digital ecosystem from paid ads to conversion.  This person will manage and execute our digital & paid media strategy, as well as our campaign and evergreen Wallpaper strategy on wetransfer.com. Our goal is to educate and inform our users about WeTransfer products at the right time, right place, and create a natural funnel that ultimately contributes to higher conversion and retention. 

The ideal candidate will have a passion for all-things digital and possess an ability to be both highly data-driven and customer-centric. They should have an understanding of the customer journey, from paid media to on-site experience, and constantly be looking for ways to improve the entire funnel from awareness to consideration and conversion. Success in the role will require a tight coordination with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, particularly Product, Marketing Analytics, Data Engineering, Ad Ops (Wallpaper) teams, in addition to the marketing channel leads. This person should feel comfortable frequently collaborating & communicating with these teams, as well as our paid media agency of record and the marketing team at large.  

What you’ll do: 

  • Increase Awareness (Paid Media & Wallpapers): You’ll play a key role in helping our major company goals, which is to increase our sessions and MAUs (monthly active users). This includes supporting the strategy for both upper-funnel media and marketing-allocated Wallpapers (our owned ad space) to support driving traffic and on-site engagement. By working closely with the Director, Digital & Performance Marketing, the  Director, Brand Marketing, and our performance media agency, you will learn & share best practices for awareness paid media, including coordinating best-in-class creative execution with Brand Marketing and Studio (our in-house creative team). For Wallpapers, you will work with the Studio and Ad Ops teams to brief on creative assets and report on performance to support marketing campaigns.  

  • Customer Acquisition & Growth: Optimizing the funnel is paramount to success in this role, and requires an understanding of our customer journey, especially amongst our high-value audiences. By working with the full Growth & Performance team, you will help identify the areas in which we can drive paid users (subscriptions) & implement these tactics across paid & digital marketing. This includes optimizing our paid channel mix; Paid Search, Paid Social, Programmatic and Affiliates as well as our SEO & content strategy. This will require utilizing first and third-party data to support aggressive growth goals and partnering with the Data Analytics team to measure how each channel contributes to growing our user base. 

  • Customer Engagement & Retention: Working closely with the Product Marketing team, you will support the digital strategy to increase customer engagement, product usage, and ultimately retention. You’ll ideate on how best to surface & digitally promote both existing products (i.e. Transfer ) and new products & features, taking a customer-centric approach to executing this strategy. This requires knowledge of retargeting and re-engagement strategies that you will help implement & execute alongside the Growth & Performance team and our paid media agency. 

  • Digital Page Creation & Content Management: You will be the expert for all of our digital marketing pages (hosted on Contentful), as you will lead in the building & maintenance of key landing pages to support our growth goals. This includes working with our Data & Analytics team to ensure that tracking is set up appropriately and feeds into our reporting systems, managing the content briefing process with our Studio & marketing teams, and maintaining a comprehensive calendar that tracks page updates. This also includes managing execution of the SEO content marketing strategy, and key infrastructure updates needed to drive organic traffic. 

  • Localization Improvement: This role requires you to think globally and act locally, meaning that you will need to think about how our site translates (literally) across different locales. By partnering with Product, our Studio Engineers, and our translation & transcreation agency (Smartling), you will input into & execute the strategy to improve our localization across geographies and key customer segments across landing pages, SEO keywords, and paid media.

  • Analytics, Experimentation & Attribution: Partnering closely with the Business Performance and Data teams, you will be responsible for supporting reporting on digital & paid media performance through attribution and media mix modeling. In addition, you will partner closely with these teams to conduct experiments to show incremental growth (for example, via Optimizely for A/B landing page tests) and look for ways to continuously improve budget, forecasting and reporting infrastructure. 

  • Agency & Project Management: In this role you will juggle several projects at once, and strong attention to detail is key. You’ll be responsible for keeping track of all the moving pieces, and frequently sharing those with the marketing team & additional stakeholders within the business. Core responsibilities also include daily communication with our paid media agency to ensure our strategic recommendations are being implemented. 

What you’ll bring:

  • 5+ years of experience in marketing with a focus on digital marketing, paid media, SEO, content management, and/or integrated strategy

  • Must have experience working in a CMS, including building landing pages, A/B testing (preferably via Optimizely), and executing SEO strategies; Contentful (CMS) experience preferred 

  • Experience with executing & optimizing cross-channel campaigns that drive to digital destinations 

  • Experience working with & managing communications with third-party agencies, i.e. digital, SEO, or paid media

  • A strong point of view on how creative assets & content can help drive user engagement, conversion, and retention

  • Ability to create, edit, and advise on creative & content briefs; experience directly liaising with an internal or external creative team a plus 

  • Strong project management skills, including running several projects simultaneously

  • Ability to clearly communicate & report updates to cross-functional teams

  • Hands-on experience working within Tableau, Google Analytics, or other digital marketing reporting tools

  • Strong in MS Excel and able to pull and manipulate own reports directly from platforms preferred

  • BA degree in Marketing, Communications or Business

  • This is an IC role

  • Based in London or New York (we do not offer relocation support)

Our work environment is hybrid-remote, meaning that we support our employees to work remotely and in the office. We encourage employees to decide for themselves and with their team whether or when to go to the office. 

While it is not necessarily a determining or disqualifying factor for any role, you may be required to complete a standard employment background screening.

Based on the successful candidate's skills and experience for the role of “Manager, Digital & Performance Marketing” we have assessed that in New York this role would expect to pay a base salary of $130,000-$140,000.  In the event that the successful candidate for this position is based outside New York, the base salary would be adjusted based on the relevant state, or country of residence and relevant market data.
