As a Lead Scanning Artist, you will support the Art team with your specialist knowledge of locating, scanning and processing assets for use in a ground-breaking new IP. Locating props, vegetation, buildings, terrain and more, you will be supported by our Art Director, Technical Artists, Material Artists to leverage the power of Unreal Engine – you will have everything needed to make world class content without compromise!

Key Duties Include

• Capturing and processing scans of real-world assets for use in-game
• Defining a scanning/photogrammetry pipeline and associated documentation
• Lead and manage a team of internal/external scanning artists
• Working with Design and Art Teams to create capture lists
• Taking a pro-active approach to locating and gaining legal access to required assets
• Collaborate with Production to ensure assets are delivered in time and budget
• Keeping up to date with latest industry techniques to improve quality or productivity

Requirements

• Proven experience of using scanning techniques to create in-game, realtime art assets of the highest quality
• Proven experience of working with realtime game projects and render engines
• Proficiency with 3d authoring tools such as 3dmax, Blender, Marmoset or equivalent
• A demonstrable knowledge of PBR material creation
• Fluency in using cameras, lenses and lighting techniques to obtain the best scan results
• A willingness to travel in the UK and internationally
• Strong organizational skills and disciplined work habits

Desirable

• Driving licence & passport
• Knowledge of alternative scanning processes such as LIDAR, NeRF etc
• Knowledge of geology, architecture or dendrology
• Interest in motorsport
