Job Description Summary
Embark on an exciting career in the dynamic world of energy as a Steampath Design Engineer within our SP Service ISD Engineering organization. This exciting opportunity is tailored for recent graduates eager to apply their academic knowledge and gain hands-on experience working alongside industry experts. You will provide technical support for the mechanical design and assessment for all impulse technology steampaths applied globally across GE SP Services. This support includes the development and preparation of technical designs and documentation for steam turbine steam path service, replacement-in-kind and upgrade/retrofit projects.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Application of solid engineering principles and existing design standards to design and analyse steam path components for a wide variety of applications ranging from small industrial applications to large nuclear.
Adaption of legacy designs to leverage modern manufacturing processes.
Contributing to root cause analyses of failures.
Developing best working practices in collaboration with the controlled title holders.
Capture, standardisation and delivery of design standards and methods to empower the global team.
Communicating within supplier and customers as required to support the business objectives.
Occasional international travel to suppliers and customers as required.
Required Qualifications
Master degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering focused on steam turbine technology
Strong expertise in applying analytical methods in mechanical design and mechanical integrity subjects
Desired Characteristics
Technical knowledge in the domain, covering steam turbine technology.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Collaborative, inclusive, supportive and empowering behaviours.
Ability to work on several varied projects simultaneously; reviewing priorities and switching onto more urgent requests when required
Strong understanding of mechanical analysis methods to ensure correct assessment of novel components.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
