The ESG CSE team’s overarching goal is to act as the internal SME on Capital Group’s approach to ESG, partnering with other teams around the business to meet client, regulatory and other stakeholder needs. This includes developing market-leading ESG content and messaging and bringing insights on ESG industry and regulatory developments to the team and organization. The team has responsibility for ESG input into responses to regulators, industry-level reporting (including the PRI, TCFD, UK Stewardship Code) and ownership for firm, fund and client-level ESG content including our ESG policy statement. The ESG CSE team also works with product teams across the firm to translate client and regulatory needs in ESG into successful solutions for our clients and is a key point of contact for the broader business with the ESG team.
The ESG Senior Specialist works collaboratively with stakeholders across the business and ESG team, building trusted and effective relationships and making a substantial contribution across the programme of work undertaken by the ESG CSE team. You'll blend an outstanding ability to draft compelling content, with both broad ESG expertise and a strong understanding of the asset management industry. You should also have a good awareness of existing and emerging ESG regulation.
You'll be comfortable taking a leadership role on a variety of projects, bringing a structured and process-oriented method of operating to the ESG team, further enhancing how the team functions and can scale up to continue to operate successfully in this rapidly growing space.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
You'll provide a key point of contact for our EACG & NACG marketing teams in reviewing in-flight ESG content, delivery timelines and prioritisation, as well as providing ESG SME input through the content review cycle. May also play an ESG advisory role on other marketing-related initiatives as needed.
You'll contribute to the development and enhancement of ESG market-facing materials and content at both the fund and firm level, including sales resources.
In partnership with product specialists, you'll identify and produce compelling case studies that illustrate our approach to ESG and that support client- and industry-level reporting.
You'll produce compelling ESG thought leadership & other externally published content in partnership with Marketing.
You'll lead and support specified industry reporting and policy initiatives, such as reporting to PRI, TCFD, and ShareAction, supporting SFDR and other regulatory reporting & content as needed. In addition, you'll support the end-to-end delivery of Sustainable Funds Impact Reporting and other updates.
You'll take ownership of agreed firm-level content including CG’s ESG Policy, ESG at CG, Impact Reports, Global insights and supports development of firm level talking points.
You will help lead ESG-related relationships with industry bodies, attending external events, conferences and other industry events and sharing your insights internally.
You'll build trusted relationships within the broader ESG team, and with those in our client groups, legal, operations and technology teams, demonstrating deep ESG subject matter expertise and a willingness to develop this expertise across further areas.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
You possess deep knowledge and understanding of ESG in an investment management context, including the broader ESG market and ESG-related client requirements.
You have demonstrable experience working within the financial services/investment industry.
You have a passion for writing high quality, compelling ESG content and thought leadership, exercising your outstanding written and oral communication skills with a diverse group of associates, senior business leaders and the Investment Group.
You are process oriented, with strong project management skills and proven ability to manage and lead on complex programmes of work.
You confidently and effectively lead/facilitate a variety of meetings.
You have a strong and demonstrable client focus, and demonstrate an ability to build internal networks, collaborate effectively, and influence groups and/or more senior associates.
You are action-oriented, demonstrating initiative in identifying issues and recommending solutions, ensuring accountability, and driving results.
You exhibit self-awareness and can point to a track record of nimble learning, intellectual curiosity and analytical skills in areas of high complexity.
In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital’s annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
