At Motorola Solutions, we're guided by a shared purpose - helping people be their best in the moments that matter - and we live up to our purpose every day by solving for safer. Because people can only be their best when they not only feel safe, but are safe. We're solving for safer by building the best possible technologies across every part of our safety and security ecosystem. That's mission-critical communications devices and networks, AI-powered video security & access control and the ability to unite voice, video and data in a single command center view. We're solving for safer by connecting public safety agencies and enterprises, enabling the collaboration that's critical to connect those in need with those who can help. The work we do here matters.
Avigilon Alta is the cloud-based end-to-end solution produced by the Video Security and Access Control division of Motorola Solutions.
This role involves working within the Technical Documentation team to develop and improve the customer documentation for the Avigilon Alta video and intrusion products. It requires hands-on writing and high-level planning and prioritisation.
You will make a defining contribution to the development of the Avigilon Alta products, by:
Writing high quality customer-focussed documentation with creativity and passion.
Designing attractive, easy-to-use information to assist our customers.
Peer-reviewing existing and new documentation to ensure the best possible quality and ensure a consistent look-and-feel to the customer documentation.
Providing input to the User Experience (UX) team to present a consistent message to our customers.
By working closely with our Engineering, Support, and User Experience teams, you will also get the opportunity to shape our video security and intrusion detection solutions.
The UK office for the Avigilon Alta team is in Uxbridge, West London. This is a hybrid role, with regular travel to our Uxbridge offices.
(Note, the Uxbridge office is currently undergoing a refit, so you might need to visit the Victoria, London office for face-to-face interactions with the documentation and wider engineering teams for a short while.)
You are not expected to have all of the following skills, but they will be useful in performing your job.
We are looking for someone who:
Is highly proficient in English.
Understands the importance of clear, concise, and easily-understood customer instructions.
Is a recent graduate, or has some experience of documenting complex technical subjects for use by non-technical people.
Will voice your opinion on product usability, the existing customer documentation, or if you think a feature is difficult to use or document.
We consider it a bonus if you:
Have experience creating graphics or video.
Have a working knowledge of cloud-based computing, machine learning, or video surveillance systems.
Have a working knowledge of MadCap Flare or similar authoring software.
Have experience of working with markup languages, such as HTML and XML.
Have knowledge of version control workflows (ideally Git).
We think you could be a good fit if you are a team player who thinks holistically, enjoys solving complex problems and thrives on working autonomously, while not afraid to ask for input and learn from your teammates if you’re stuck.
All experience levels will be considered.
Does this sound like you? We'd love you to apply, even if you don't meet 100% of the requirements and qualifications.
In return for your expertise, we’ll support you in this new challenge with coaching & development every step of the way. Also, to reward your hard work you’ll get:
