About You and This Role:

This role is for a Pilot Plant Technician at the Polyolefins Process R&D facility in South Charleston, WV. In this role, you will work as part of a Team to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the pilot plant facility through daily operational and support tasks.

In this role, you will be using your prior related experience, job-related training, or vocational training to complete routine activities. You will need to have basic technical or administrative skills to follow the established and approved work processes. You will need to understand how these assigned duties relate to other jobs within your workgroup and be able to exchange basic technical information with other team members.

It is your responsibility to use standard operating procedures and/or analytical/scientific methods to address defined and straightforward problems. You must have the ability to select solutions from established options to resolve typical administrative, data organization, and data coordination problems. You will be accountable for managing your own assigned workload with no additional supervisory responsibilities. Your performance impacts the quality of your own work as well as your team’s work. You will receive close to moderate level of supervision and guidance in this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Applies previous related experience, job-related training, or formal vocational training to ensure safe and efficient operation of assigned plant areas
  • Manage inventory and shipment of drum and gaylord boxes of product, including maintaining organization of the shipping warehouse
  • Direct responsibility for warehouse cleanliness and organization to ensure alignment with company goals and commitments (Operation Clean Sweep).
  • Manage inventory of critical materials & escalate for re-ordering (fiber drums, pallets, Gaylords, liners,  plastic jars, boxes, etc).
  • Coordination and preparation of shipping product containers, sample containers, and waste containers in a timely manner to meet customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Uses trouble shooting skills to resolve process related deviations and problems, and understands how the assigned duties relate to others in the team and how the team integrates with other related teams
  • Performs process equipment troubleshooting, minor repairs, improvements and preventative maintenance
  • Uses process knowledge and skills to make improvements in plant performance and Operating discipline, including creating and improving job procedures.
  • Write SWP's and perform lock out/tag out
  • Participates in Root Cause Investigations
  • Demonstrates proficient application of Life Critical Standards, operate plant discipline and sets role model in safety culture
  • Completes all assigned training per facility training plan


Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of high school diploma.
  • A minimum 7 years of experience working in a chemical plant (or closely related industry).
  • A minimum 1 year experience with the operation of a ribbon mixer for drum mixing.
  • A minimum 7 years experience coordinating and processing shipping requests, including the use of computers and label machines to complete transactions.
  • A minimum 7 years experience using forklifts to prepare shipments of drums and gaylord boxes.
  • A minimum 7 years experience using shrink wrap machines for packaging items for shipments.
  • Must have DOT training for waste handling.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Prefer Skills:

  • Preferred 7 years experience using RDSIMS (or closely related program) to process sample requests.
  • Knowledgeable using RXO Connect (or closely related program) to manage large shipments directly with scheduling companies is preferred.
