Job title:
Process Engineer
Reports to Operations Manager.
Job dimensions
Support the Kidderminster site by collaborating across all business areas to develop and drive operational improvements using a data driven and proactive approach to troubleshooting.
Activities
All activities must be conducted with a focus on health, safety and environmental standards as defined by company policy and statutory requirements.
Regularly engage with operators and material handlers to learn, optimise and troubleshoot process.
Leading continuous process improvement by identifying and implementing ways to reduce manufacturing costs, increase capacity, improve process capability and improve product quality. Facilitate the training and transfer of best operational practices.
Support new product development with production trial coordination and troubleshooting.
Support DCS system (Delta-V) and use knowledge of the system to aid troubleshooting.
Maintaining the technical process knowledge for the facility and the product line incl. SAP recipe management.
Update and maintain Process and Production Data collection systems (SAP and other Database systems).
Drive standardization of process operation conditions and reduce process and measurement variability.
Utilize Lean & Six-Sigma techniques to drive improvement into our processes and projects.
Conduct and use MOC process to document and control process changes.
Develop and drive production cost improvement initiatives.
Support plant compliance with safety and environmental related regulatory requirements including other company policies and programs.
Support capital and non-capital improvement projects where required by working closely with the engineering department to provide safe and effective project delivery.
Lead and engage with investigations of non-conforming products and processes including root cause analyses.
Generate and review operating procedures to ensure best practice is maintained.
All other duties as assigned.
Context and environment
The job involves Continuous Improvement of the processes and procedures at the Kidderminster site, working closely with the Operations Manager to deliver productivity, HSE and quality gains.
Accountabilities
Monitoring and reducing process downtime.
Proactively identifying potential problems to minimise loss of production.
Minimise amount of waste on site.
Improve throughput of material on site.
Increase site flexibility to improve response to demand.
Keeping Operating Procedures relevant and up to date, following MOC procedures.
COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
BEng in Chemical Engineering – Other science/engineering disciplines with chemical industry experience considered.
Knowledge of continuous improvement processes and root cause investigations.
Proactive problem-solving mindset.
Health & Safety focused.
Desired:
MEng in Chemical Engineering
5 years industrial experience in a similar role
Knowledge of using DSC systems.
Experience leading root cause investigations.
Experience completing seeing capital expenditure projects from start to finish.
