Position Summary

PACCAR Australia is looking for a customer focused, business oriented, and driven Human Resources Director to join PACCAR.  The Human Resources Director is both a hands-on and strategic role that provides HR support to our operations in Australia.  This role is critical in delivering Human Resources results in the areas of Talent Management, Engagement, Rewards, Retention, Training, and Development and Organizational Effectiveness.  This position will report directly to the Managing Director, PACCAR Australia.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

Recruitment and Talent Management

  • Partner with the Division and Department Leaders to develop Executive Succession Plan presentation.
  • Lead annual goal setting, employee development, and employee succession and performance appraisal processes.
  • Develop and execute action plans to ensure participation by employees in six-sigma, internal audit, training programs, special projects and other development opportunities to accomplish individual and division goals.

 

Safety, Engagement, Rewards and Retention

  • Lead safety initiatives within organization to ensure employee health and safety.
  • Ensure the merit compensation program is administered effectively to include communicating, training and partnering with management to approve final recommendations.
  • Partner with management and the compensation department to ensure position upgrades are supported through market evaluation.
  • Evaluate employee programs, exit interviews and force report statistics to ensure plans are in place to address employee retention.
  • Ensure high potential employees have development and retention plans.
  • Create and implement an engagement and retention strategy.

 

Training and Development

  • Facilitate training sessions with employees and managers
  • Ensure division training requirements are achieved
  • Develop and research special training opportunities such as industry specific training, shop floor, sales training and other needs.
  • Facilitate mentoring, job shadow/job rotation and 360 degree employee development activities.

 

HR Effectiveness

  • Understand business goals and recommend HR approaches, policies and procedures to achieve and continuously improve business and people objectives.
  • Lead projects, ability to influence and obtain buy-in to drive results. Have a passion for process improvement and ability to obtain buy-in from HR and the business to embrace these improvements.
  • Investigate and conclude employee relations investigations
  • Ensure that HR practices are compliant with Internal Audit standards.
  • Ensure that technology is employed to accomplish HR results and HR employees are trained in maximizing the use of e-recruiting and other HR tools.
  • Provide guidance to managers on a variety of HR topics including employment law, leave administration, performance management, employee benefits, etc.

 

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources or relevant field is required.
  • Master's degree preferred

 

Qualifications

  • Eight plus years of related experience, preferably with a global company headquartered outside of Australia.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Prior experience leading, coaching and mentoring direct reports.
  • Ability to understand business goals and recommend compensation, benefits, and human resources policies to meet regulatory requirements and to achieve and continuously improve business and people objectives.
  • Ability to lead projects, ability to influence and obtain buy-in and drive results. Passion for process improvement and ability to obtain buy-in from the business to embrace these improvements.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, presentation skills and adaptability.
  • Excels in an environment with changing priorities.
  • Proficient MS office skills.
