Main Purpose of the Role
GED-T (Energy Transition) is part of the Strategic Development division of RWE Generation. We are tasked with delivery of major new power projects that are critical to RWE Generation’s decarbonisation pathway to achieving Net Zero. This role is required to develop commercial concepts, negotiate £bn contracts with counterparties including DESNZ and establish and manage partnerships.
The Commercial Project Manager is a key member of the energy transition team responsible for delivering commercial contract expertise across the value chain from early stage development through to Operations across multiple projects.
Key Responsibilities
Leading and coordinating contract negotiations for CO2 offtake agreements and hydrogen supply agreements
Develop and build relationships with the energy transition team project managers and RWEST nominated contact to develop Heads of Terms and ultimately a commercial contract.
Dynamically develop close contacts and regular engagement with internal stakeholders within the business and other relevant parties in the Energy sector
Seek opportunities by building relationships with potential counterparties through networking and research, and negotiate terms.
Development of commercial models to evaluate partner and offtake options
Work with Economic Evaluation and the project team to develop suitable economic modelling tools.
Engagement with potential CO2 offtake, transportation and storage, and hydrogen supply counterparties and securing suitable contracts
Engaging with senior level individuals from RWE and third parties to ensure that the terms of commercial agreement including MoU, JDA or other agreement are complied with.
Management of collaborations to include driving typical processes such as Steering Committee alignments
Work with the project team to identify suitable target organisations and build relationships.
Developing and testing early project ideas in partnerships, for example building showcases
Seek opportunities through research and meeting potential counterparts. (For example a CO2 pilot value chain of small-scale CO2 transport and storage).
General representation of GED in meetings with external partnering and contracting parties up to C level
Consistent representation of RWE to ensure continuity between partnerships or contracts and projects, as well as ‘selling RWE’ as a potential suitable counterparty.
Development of standard processes for partnering and contracting (up-to-date templates for most common documents, checklists, support in setting up shared drives etc.)
Work with the across the Energy Transition Team, PMO and project managers to create suitable simple processes to ensure consistency across relationships.
Maintain an up-to-date database of existing commercial and contractual agreements including active contract management and compliance
