Are you proactive and project-focused? Are you looking to flex your administrative skills in a highly creative environment? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join Penguin Michael Joseph as Publishing Coordinator.

The role: In this role, you’ll mainly provide PA and administrative support to one of Penguin Michael Joseph’s Publishing Directors. This role doesn’t work directly with the books, but you’ll take administrative responsibility for ensuring the smooth running of the work being done in the division.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the Publishing Director’s complex diary, exercising judgement and initiative over the timing and requirements for appointments
  • Preparing and organising notes, schedules, and travel arrangements for the Publishing Director's meetings, and establishing a routine for organising these tasks
  • Managing departmental focused activities, such as circulating agendas, taking minutes, and organising and sending reminders for copy/wording to be updated
  • Tracking the progress of work within the team to ensure things are running smoothly
  • Updating systems, recording responses to book submissions, processing expenses and booking external lunches and meetings
  • Liaising with freelance editors and authors as required to shepherd manuscripts into production
  • Managing the publication critical path of books within the division

Plus, much more!

What you’ll bring: This is a critical role for the team so we’re looking for someone who is exceptionally organised and who enjoys managing projects; someone who cares about building great working relationships and helping the team track its progress on activities, ensuring work is on time and continually moving forwards. To be successful in this role, you’ll need to enjoy the admin work and have a desire to proactively support the team around you, taking the initiative to improve things at every opportunity.

You’ll have:

  • Exceptional organisational and time management skills
  • A clear and methodical approach to project management
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • The ability to multitask and handle competing priorities, as well as the ability to pivot in a fast-changing environment
  • A curiosity for the work being done at Penguin Michael Joseph

The team: Penguin Michael Joseph is a leading commercial fiction and non-fiction imprint of Penguin Random House, publishing best-selling titles across an array of genres such as crime and thriller, romance, cookery, memoir and lifestyle.
