We have an exciting opportunity to join this fast-paced team as a Producer working in our in-house and external studios. This is a full-time, fixed term contract position to cover a period of parental leave (6 months, July 2024 through January 2025).
The Opportunity
Reporting into our Senior Producer, this role will play a lead role delivering high-quality and innovative audiobooks across Penguin Random House working across our production, studio and post-production teams.
Day to day, you can expect to be
Directing and engineering recording sessions for a number of Penguin Studios productions, working across a broad range of genres.
Leaning into author care and talent management; ensuring everybody who records in Penguin Studios has a great experience.
Meticulously preparing for every recording, reading each text and preparing detailed notes on pronunciation, character and tone.
Briefing and monitoring post-production on your own titles, including reading proof reports, listening to final masters and advising on sound effects, music and other design elements.
Regularly feeding back on recording learnings, promoting a culture of sharing information across the wider team.
Undertaking any research to support productions or compiling pronunciations for books with extensive foreign, specialist or complex language.
What you’ll bring
We’d love to hear from you if you combine a love for literature and proven hands-on experience producing audio within different genres and styles.
You’ll have:
Minimum three years’ experience in audio production for audiobooks.
An understanding of audio technology, including recording interfaces, recording software, microphones, and compressors.
Experience directing actors and readers for the best possible audio performance.
New ideas and creativity around how to produce innovative and market-leading audiobooks.
Confidence working with senior stakeholders across projects.
The ability to juggle various projects at any one time.

Salary: Circa £33,000 depending on how your skills and experience align with the role, plus bonus and benefits

For this role, all recordings and some meetings will need to be attended in person at our offices in Embassy Gardens. We are open to discussing the exact balance of office to remote working (e.g. for text prep) through the recruitment process.
