Security Consultant - hybrid, mainly remote working, but with regular travel to Bristol and other sites
About the role
We are looking to recruit a Principal Security Consultant to join our growing, vibrant community of security professionals based on client sites across the UK, including London, Leeds, and Bristol. Working predominantly in the UK Defence Sector, with further opportunities across transport, energy, telecommunications, health, legal, and central Government sections, you will be at the core of our customers’ mission to defend themselves from cyber-attacks by helping them to clearly understand their exposure and put in place pragmatic and cost effective controls.

You will either work individually or leading a small team, under light touch direction from your clients and your line management. You will have responsibility for satisfying the objectives for an assignment.

Within the Digital Defence Services, we are a critical partner to the UK Ministry of Defence in their adoption of secure digital solutions that enable multi-domain integration and data exploitation, which provides the advantage to those who serve and protect us.

Key responsibilities
Working with clients remotely and onsite, you will support and grow to lead engagements that deliver cyber risk assessments, improve security control maturity, define secure solutions and ensure compliance. Predominantly these engagements will be in the UK Defence Sector across all domains, with further opportunities across transport, energy, telecommunications, health, legal, and central Government sections.
Your responsibilities will include:
Skills and experience required
• A passion for, and understanding of, cyber security trends and threats, underpinned by a solid understanding of networking (TCP/IP) and DNS.
• Knowledge and practical experience of applying NIST Cyber Security and Risk Management publications.
• Effective business acumen and an understanding of the cyber security challenges faced by organisations
• Can evaluate cyber security risk at the technical, system process and/or organisational level measuring the associated business impact using a structured approach or methodology
• Can document and articulate how to manage cyber security risk utilising a structured approach based on industry frameworks, pitching technical detail into key business stakeholders.
• Experience in a consulting environment
• Working effectively in large teams and leading small teams.
• Excellent interpersonal skills as well as both written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to prioritise workload, work well under pressure and concurrently manage both customer and BAE Systems expectations
• Either currently holding, or previously held, Government Security Clearance.
