The Solution Architect Specialist role will be critical to the success of the Contract Evolution Programme.  
The objectives of the Contract Management Evolution Programme are to transform the Contract Management organisation by 1) Establishing and delivering a world class Target Operating Model that differentiates us from our competitors, 2) underpins the required processes and technology to realise our future vision and, 3) identify the full programme benefits and opportunities to realise future year growth. This will be a multi-year programme and will help drive Customer & Colleague Experience uplift, maximise value generation, and reduce effort associated with manual processing and non-value activity.  

 

Within the Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) framework, a Solution Architect Specialist brings their Solutioning , Technical, analytical and communication skills to ensure that the organisation's contracts are effectively managed, compliant, and aligned with business objectives.

•    Delivers deep technical and repeatable solutions that achieve customer requirements driving positive outcomes
•    Guides partnerships with business and operational stakeholders to conduct business and technical discovery
•    Implements robust recommendations, proposals and scope of work documents for group engagements while also identifying critical dependencies and gaps
•    Delivers the creation of innovative and repeatable solution architectures to resolve a range of complex solution architecture problems and meet agreed requirements
•    Facilitates business stakeholders’ understanding of capabilities and the transformative power of group products, services and technology
•    Drives the team culture of enhancing the solution architect team’s knowledge, methodologies and customer-facing collateral
•    Executes alignment with Enterprise Architecture guardrails and solution patterns
Contributes to thought leadership and provides advice on a specific set of technologies to help senior leadership shape the long-term direction of solution architecture strategy
•    Delivers complex, strategic initiatives that are a part of the company's overall commercial Strategy
•    Champions, continuously develops and shares with team knowledge on emerging trends and changes in solution architecture
•    Mentors other solution architects, helping to improve the team’s abilities by acting as a technical resource
•    Act as the technical expert on architecture governance and design authority for development of products and services in line with the published roadmap    •    Strategic thinking: Able to create and articulate business improvements and translate to practical action and execution.
•    Solution Architecture: You can drive the implementation of the solution framework in collaboration with senior business and operations stakeholder.
•    Technology thought leadership: Draws on a breadth of technical knowledge and insight - current and emerging - to solve problems through the use and reuse of technology and innovation and ways to downstream work. Keeps up to date with new and emerging trends and creates/shares insights across BT and in the market
•    Collaborative: Works in partnership with teams and individuals across the organisation to build trust, share knowledge, generate ideas and achieve common goals
•    Commercial: Understands the commercial model of the business, evaluating risks, benefits and returns for technology solutions and ensuring they’re clearly understood by key decision makers 
•    Business acumen: Knowledgeable in business strategy and the drivers of organisational performance, including people drivers of performance and financial literacy (e.g. business KPIs, business cases)
•    Strong stakeholder management: Influences and facilitates complex decision making across large numbers of stakeholders, with a strong track record of buy-in and turning dissenters to advocates 
•    Effective communicator: Inspires confidence and creates commitment in others through logical, compelling arguments which are tailored to the audience
•    Market aware: Strong awareness about our key competitors, potential partners and potential disruption in the sector.  Experience of navigating large, complex, organisational structures and taking ownership to address issues and challenge the status quo.
Leadership accountabilities

 

Experience you’d be expected to have

 

MANDATORY - Prior hands-on experience on designing end-to-end solution preferably in the Sales, CPQ and Contract management domains.
MANDATORY – Strong experience and understanding of API’s, Webservices and authentication patterns (desirable)
MANDATORY- Hands on experience with Data mapping and preparation exercise.
MANDATORY- Strong awareness around the E2E Solution Design processes like ACE, Security Passport, Data privacy etc...
MANDATORY – Experience presenting to senior managers, architects and Business stakeholders.
Desirable - Experience in maintaining a deep expertise in emerging technology trends. You use specialised skills and knowledge to guide the business and develop content to support the sharing of complex technical information.
Desirable – Knowledge of Salesforce capabilities and data structure.
Desirable – Knowledge of AI and Analytical frameworks and hyperscalers for e.g.  GCP, AWS
 
Key decisions  

 

Technology Selection:
•    On-Premises vs. Cloud-Based: Decide whether the CLM system will be hosted on-premises or in the cloud, considering factors such as cost, scalability, and maintenance.
•    Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) vs. Custom Development: Choose between adopting an existing CLM software solution or developing a custom system based on organizational needs.
Scope and Objectives:
•    Define the scope of the CLM system, including the types of contracts it will manage and the specific stages of the contract lifecycle it will cover.
•    Establish clear objectives for implementing the CLM system, aligning them with broader organizational goals.
Integration Strategy:
•    Determine how the CLM system will integrate with other enterprise systems, such as ERP, CRM, and document management systems.
•    Decide on the level of data synchronization and the frequency of data exchanges between systems.
Data Migration:
•    Decide on a strategy for migrating existing contract data into the new CLM system.
•    Define data cleansing and validation processes to ensure data accuracy during migration.
User Roles and Permissions:
•    Define user roles and permissions within the CLM system.
Workflow Design:
•    Design the contract workflow, including approval processes, notifications, and escalations.
•    Decide on the automation of routine tasks and the level of flexibility in workflow configurations.
Security Measures:
•    Define security measures to protect sensitive contract data.
•    Determine encryption, access controls, and other security features to safeguard against unauthorized access.    Compliance with all BT policies is mandatory and applies to all BT employees.
