Job Descrption

Industrial Placement - Legal, Regulatory Affairs, Compliance and Company Secretary function (LRACCS)

BT Group is the global powerhouse behind EE, BT, Plusnet, and Openreach.

We value diversity and celebrate difference. We’ll encourage you to be yourself, whatever your background. As Philip Jansen, our CEO, says ‘We embed diversity and inclusion into everything that we do. It’s fundamental to our purpose: we connect for good.’

Whichever brand you’re working for, we’re all playing for the same team. And we all enjoy the rewards of being part of something bigger: the opportunities to explore new experiences, pursue different dreams, climb challenging career ladders, and try out different ways of working.

We’re always looking ahead. We don’t just sell broadband, and networks, and security, and thousands of clever things you’ve never heard of; in our Martlesham labs, we’re inventing the technologies of the future.

Four brands. One team, 100,000 strong. Together, we’re connecting the world. Come and play your part in building the BT Group of the future, one that will be net zero by 2030.

About this role

This internship is a fantastic opportunity for school leavers or university students to get a head start on an exciting legal career.

You’ll be joining our award-winning LRACCS function, which is made up of our Legal, Regulatory, Compliance and Company Secretary teams supporting BT’s various consumer-facing and corporate units. Together, we provide a first-class service to help BT to develop market leading products and services, comply with our legal and regulatory obligations and protect our commercial interests, with the ultimate aim of helping BT to meet its strategic goals.

Our work is innovative, inspiring and challenging in a way that makes every day different and stimulating. We provide the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects with brilliant people, whether it be supporting the business with strategic product launches and commercial transactions, unlocking the value of data, navigating increasingly complex regulations, or representing BT’s interests in high-value disputes.

Everyone has access to unparalleled professional and personal development opportunities and your contribution is always valued. This will include partnering with our panel law firms to offer additional private practice training and networking opportunities. With incredible opportunities to learn, develop and hone your skills, we’ll invest in you and nurture your potential.

Our internship offers you the opportunity to gain hands-on experience as well as personal and professional development. You’ll be joining us in LRACCS, a team that is made up of a variety of experienced legal and regulatory professionals, covering specialisms such as commercial and corporate transactions, advisory, data, regulatory and litigation.

We’ll make sure you’ll learn the key legal concepts like contract and litigation, as well as having the opportunity to gain experience in other specialist areas such as competition, privacy, security, compliance and regulatory affairs.

We’ve got lots of different roles you could be doing, from working on exciting product launches in Consumer, Enterprise and Global, supporting the business with competition and employment matters, strategic transactions and disputes in Corporate, to ensuring BT maintains its position as a cyber security leader in Data.
