Location

London - hybrid working 3 days in the office, 2 wherever.

Why this job matters

This role within the Organisation Effectiveness & Talent team is accountable for the end-to-end management of executive search activities across one of BT’s Business Units.

You will successfully influence BT stakeholders to establish critical talent requirements for the organisation, both for the present and future, setting trends rather than merely following the market. To achieve this, you will source, establish, and maintain robust, diverse, and dynamic pipelines of internal and external talent. Additionally, you will create role-specific market maps, longlists, and shortlists, driving insight-led decision-making that supports our diversity and inclusion ambitions across the BT Group. Working in the Organisation Effectiveness and Talent team entails close collaboration with the Talent team to develop action plans for establishing succession strategies and benchmarks. These plans aim to place the strongest and most diverse talent into key roles, either through internal appointments or external recruitment.

What you’ll be doing

• Operate as a Subject Matter Expert for Executive Recruitment at BT, collaborating with the Senior Leadership Team and the broader HR community to identify future talent needs. Ensure we possess the competitive intelligence, both internally and externally, to meet the evolving requirements of the business.
• Create, own, and develop the search strategy for your functional domain, recommending the best approach for current and future business needs.
• Define, design, and implement leadership recruiting programs and search engagements for various leadership roles. This involves understanding and mapping the talent landscape, translating it into a sourcing and assessment strategy, and identifying, sourcing, and attracting emerging, established, and diverse talent.
• Lead robust, fair, and seamless interview processes, ensuring all parties are informed, engaged, and have a personal, simple, and excellent experience – from hiring manager to candidate.
• Drive true diversity across BT by cultivating diverse candidate slates from broad backgrounds and sectors, challenging traditional thinking and ways of working.
• Ensure a 'white glove' candidate experience for all candidates, internal and external, championing a candidate-led culture from initial engagement to onboarding.
• Establish and maintain extensive connections in the external marketplace and adjacent industries.
• Ensure data integrity and the quality of search information and intelligence through efficient management of external search suppliers' information, internal systems, and LinkedIn. Provide regular internal and external insight/reporting to SLTs.

Skills and experience

• Proficient in collaborating with executive search providers, including pitch processes, fee negotiation, ensuring high service levels, diverse candidate slates, and supporting offer stages internally.
• Executive search expertise gained from working in an in-house executive recruitment team or for an executive search firm. This includes devising and executing research strategies, market mapping, and passive candidate identification and attraction.
• Guiding senior leaders and candidates through the recruitment process, leading interviews, negotiating offers, and providing insight to Executive Reward.
• Experience utilising commercial understanding, market insights, and organisational knowledge to shape diverse, high-quality talent pipelines aligned with the organisation's purpose and strategy.
• Experience developing and maintaining an extensive network of both internal and external contacts at the executive level.
• Sophisticated influencing skills at the senior level and a strong track record of inspiring others and leading change through building rapport, demonstrating passion, and subject matter expertise.
• Deep expertise in all aspects of executive search and search methodologies, including building research strategies, passive candidate sourcing and attraction, and offer negotiation at the most senior level.
• Advanced interview and assessment skills with a proven track record of successful hires.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
