About EE

We’re EE. We are the biggest mobile and broadband operator in the UK and we have a relationship in every second household in the country. But we’re for everyone, on any network – serving up new tech, new services, and heaps of inspiration for every aspect of your connected life.

We’ve been awarded the UK’s best network for the last 10 years. It’s central to our vision – to be the most personal customer-focused technology company in the UK.

That means earning a place on customers’ home screens by offering them more than ever before, whether that’s helping their home run smarter with EE Home, levelling up their play with EE Game, helping them work on their terms with EE Work, or even unleashing their kids’ learning with EE Learn.

We’re also part of BT Group, which we’re even bigger than you might think. Millions of people rely on us every day to help them live their lives, power their businesses, and keep their public services running. We connect friends to family, clients to colleagues, people to possibilities. We keep the wheels of business spinning, and the emergency services responding.

Why this job matters

Within BT’s Consumer unit, Base Value & Personalisation (BV&P) manages one of the largest consumer bases in the UK (30M customers across Fixed Broadband, Mobile and TV services, generating £10B revenue annually).

As we embark on the exciting pivot to make EE our flagship brand, our vision is become the most personal, customer-focused technology brand in the UK.

BV&P is a multidisciplinary department comprising ~350 people across multiple teams:

  • commercial teams (customer-facing with P&L accountability)
  • capability teams (supporting delivery of commercial initiatives and customer experiences, plus building the personalisation engine of our next-gen technology stack)
  • data teams (data engineers, data scientists, modelers)
  • analytical teams (providing strategic insights for the broader business)

In Capability and Data Commercialisation, we are steering the team and capability which will deliver next-level personalisation – at scale – for our customers. Focused on the customer base, the capability personalises customer experience across inbound and outbound channels; it is using rich data and sophisticated machine learning models to optimise retention, reward loyalty, drive engagement, and grow our value-add per customer.

This role is similar to what other companies call a Business Manager - supporting the Director - giving the opportunity to work across capability, commercial adoption, strategy and data-led customer innovation. It will help shape the commercial engine of new EE as the capability roll-out transforms our company from a traditional telco model into a consumer technology business.

What you'll be doing

In this role, you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the strategic prioritisation of investment choices that underpin the NBA capability roadmap
  • Be accountable for BV&P’s capex investment management: tracking and ensuring adherence to the business’ capex and investment planning process (spend tracking and forecast, SOW, PO, receipting).
  • Drive alignment of the roadmaps of the different teams within the NBA programme and contribute to the strategic prioritisation of use cases that the business wants to deliver.
  • Work closely with the Senior Strategy & Planning Manager to underpin BV&P’s strategy with a capability roadmap.
  • Coordinate wider business engagement with the C&DC Director across commercial functions, channels and capability teams (including deputising for the Director at key meetings) .

The skills and experience you will have under your belt

  • Commercial acumen & Transformation acumen: Knowledgeable in business strategy, in the drivers of organisational performance, including influencing people and how a new capability can be introduced, bought into and drive change on a large scale
  • A strong structuring and ‘strategic problem-solving’ mindset
  • Strong quantitative skills and financial understanding
  • Story-telling: very strong skills in building the case for change, drawing on their experience, on data and on communication skills
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders across a range of complex issues
  • Excellent analytical and organisational skills
  • Experience in management of a complex capability programme
