Why this job matters
The purpose of this role is to lead on demand and planning within our Global Reach platforms. 
The purpose of the Network Capacity Professional role is to deliver network demand and forecasting for Global Reach IP/VPN network platforms and/or customer solutions.  Specifically, this role is accountable for:

  • Driving efficiency and scalability, effective management of demand and capacity of Global Reach IP/VPN network platforms and providing technical input to customer solution for effective capacity management. 
  • Typically working with a team of technical experts/contractors to deliver network solutions and provide technical thought leadership to the team The sphere of influence for the team will be from a technical perspective.
  • Acting as a technical ambassador for the company and providing expert technical consulting to customers at a platform and/or overall solution level.
  • Reporting on capacity and forecasting of BT’s Global Reach IP/VPN network platforms.

 

What you’ll be doing – your accountabilities
The purpose of the Network Demand Professional is to lead the demand and capacity forecasting for Global Reach IP/VPN platforms. Specifically, this role is accountable for:

  • Design, develop and maintain rolling scalable capacity plans, to meet the forecasted demand to support customer orders.
  • Manage network infrastructure utilisation within predetermined Control Limits, identifying ways to minimise the number of exceptions outside of the Control Limits.
  • Maintain network resilience within the network policies.
  • Build network in accordance with agreed customer forecasts.
  • Identification of optimisation opportunities, including maximising the available capacity at minimum spend and improving the network operational effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Maintaining a record of Control Limits, Lead Times and network policies used to manage the network.
  • Develop strategy that supports customer deployment plans.
  • Drive Best in Class Costs through improved network utilization and efficient deployment plans.
  • Planning rules / Process that identify RAG thresholds supporting network components both for New and incremental growth.
  • Producing capacity management reports on network performance, utilization, network incidents and bespoke customer reports
  • Managing IP addressing across customer access circuits.
  • Ensuring capacity is provisioned in line with planning rules.

 

The skills you’ll need to succeed

  • Effective Stakeholder management through co-ordination and planning with In-Life and Development Team
  • Detailed understanding and ownership of the relevant Capacity Management processes.
  • Reconciling large amounts of data into meaningful capacity reporting for stakeholders.
  • Good communications skills, able to engage with others with differing technical levels.

Member of a professional body an advantage, e.g. Institution of Engineering and Technology

  • Strong collaboration skills.
  • Ability to lead / coach teams to change and develop an innovative, challenging, and supportive team culture.
