Location: this role can be based from either our Birmingham or Manchester strategic hub and will cover the north and midlands region.

As a Business Development Director, you’ll support our ambition and your key to success will be being able to seize the opportunity that exists across the transformational programmes for local government in the north and midlands.
• Develops and executes a comprehensive business development strategy focused on securing large transformational deals, identifies target segments within your regional local government sector and aligns BT’s technology offerings to meet their specific needs.
• Establishes as a thought leader and industry authority within the local government sector.
• Leverages understanding of the market to inform the business development strategy and maximise our competitive advantage.
• Cultivates and maintains strong relationships with key stakeholders within the local government sector at a C-suite level.
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including solution architects, product specialists, and technical experts, to create innovative and tailored solutions that address the unique challenges of the sector.
• Leads complex contract negotiations, ensuring alignment with BT’s business objectives and risk management guidelines.
• Over-achievement against targets and a proven track record successfully selling large, complex IT/technology contracts within the local government sector.
• In-depth knowledge of the local government sector landscape, including trends, challenges, government initiatives, funding programmes and innovation pilots.
• Existing relationships and senior contacts within the local government sector.
• Strong negotiation and contract management skills, with a keen attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish credibility and build relationships at all levels.
