Head of BT Fleet - Sustainability & Portfolio at BT Group

Why this role matters

The Head of BT Fleet Sustainability and Portfolio is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to improve the sustainability and efficiency of the BT's fleet. This includes tasks such as selecting and managing alternative fuel vehicles, implementing fuel efficiency programs, and tracking and reporting on fleet emissions. This person will be responsible for defining BT’s future strategic fleet portfolio and aligning individual BT units to be cost efficient and sustainable.

What you'll be doing

  • Develop and implement strategies to improve the sustainability and efficiency of the BT's fleet: identify opportunities to reduce fuel consumption, emissions, and other environmental impacts.
  • Select and manage alternative fuel vehicles: evaluate different types of vehicles, negotiating contracts with vendors, and managing the fleet of alternative fuel vehicles.
  • Implement fuel efficiency programs: develop and implement programs to improve driver behaviour, such as fuel-efficient driving courses and telematics systems.
  • Conduct research on new technologies and trends in fleet sustainability: stay up-to-date on the latest developments in fleet sustainability, such as electric vehicles and autonomous vehicles.
  • Work with vendors and suppliers to identify and implement sustainable solutions: find ways to reduce the environmental impact of the fleet
  • Optimise fleet operations to reduce costs and emissions: find ways to reduce the fuel consumption and emissions of the fleet, while still meeting the BT's needs.
  • Communicate with stakeholders on fleet sustainability initiatives: keep stakeholders informed about the organisation's fleet sustainability initiatives and address any concerns that they may have.

The skills you'll need

  • Strong understanding of fleet sustainability principles and practices
  • Extensive experience in project management and data analysis
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills with ability to build effective working relationships at CEO level down to team member.
  • Results driven – a proven track record of operational grip and highly disciplined to deliver a balanced set of results
  • An advocate of continuous improvement and ability to deliver centrally driven transformation.
  • Experience of translating strategic plan into an understandable list of tangible actions and drive through an organisation.
