The Role:
As the Infrastructure product manager in our MAG Digital Products and Services team, you’ll own the infrastructure product area end to end, and lead a team of Infrastructure Architects, Platform Engineers and System Analysts.
This role covers our on-airport datacentres and 3rd party colocation products, a large campus fibre estate at each airport, security products encompassing Video Management / CCTV and Access control, voice services and all the commercial and critical connectivity products sat on top of the fibre. The products deliver key connectivity and common use infrastructure services to our terminals, airfields and carpark and office developments. Supporting both our critical national infrastructure airport platforms and a large community of airlines partners and retailers.
Working alongside our Platform, Airport and Group Function Product Managers, you will understand how the current infrastructure constraints and issues fit into a roadmap alongside strategic infrastructure product development that is driven by MAG business goals and objectives. You’ll guide solution thinking alongside technical infrastructure architects to ensure the best fit solution, in terms of reliability, scalability, security and cost effectiveness in support of the desired business outcome.
As well as being a hands on delivery person, you will also play a key role in leading your team, whether that be systems analysts supporting on technical requirements, architects working on projects that impact physical infrastructure or platform engineers delivering changes. You’ll need to co-ordinate people so they’re all clear on the direction and roadmap, challenge them to make sure your infrastructure vision remains on course and empower them to drive their specific areas forward at pace.
What will make you a successful Cloud Platform Manager:
You’ll have an in depth understanding of managing large, complex, multiuser physical infrastructure estates. You’ll have experience of manging and developing common use infrastructure in a multi-tenant environment to reduce complexity, recover costs and provide a profit centre for technology gained over progressive roles.
You’ll have experience of working and managing change in a large, regulated, asset-based corporate environment with matrix stakeholder management structure.
You’ll have strong operational understanding of airport, aviation or similar large campus sites developed through experience. You’ll have a professional registration with the Engineering council or BCS. You’ll be qualified in physical IT Infrastructure Design and Operations including relevant accreditation from bodies such as the uptime institute, optical networking system manufacturers and critical cooling and electrical plant manufacturers. You’ll have an adaptive style in being able to communicate often technical ideas in simple terms.
You’ll have excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities. You have excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and with impact at all levels of stakeholders.
You’ll have demonstrable leadership and people development abilities, able to attract & develop talent and capabilities, identifies and cultivates essential skills and attributes to maximise colleague contribution and engagement. Fostering a culture of learning and growth across the function.
You’ll have knowledge of new and emerging technology trends and roadmaps and passionate about implementing best practise and technology enabled change through continuous improvement.
You’re comfortable dealing with ambiguity in a highly evolving change environment.
