This exciting opportunity is based within our Airfield Operations team, who ensure that the complex airside environment is operating both safely and efficiently on a 24/7 basis. In this role, you will achieve success by combining a keen focus on safety and compliance with a proactive community-driven attitude, supporting our many stakeholders and our business more generally to protect OTP and deliver an industry-leading guest experience.
Typical duties will include:
• Proactive engagement with the airside community, building relationships to identify the root cause of potential delays and supporting them to resolve challenges which could adversely impact OTP.
• Inspection of safety-critical surfaces (incl. runways, taxiways and aircraft stands) to ensure the safety of airport operations, working in partnership with stakeholders to rectify any issues and promulgating relevant information at the earliest opportunity.
• Application of approved wildlife hazard control measures in accordance with Local Operating Procedures, MA Aerodrome Manual and the MA Wildlife Hazard Management Plan.
• In periods of disruption, adverse weather or emergency, proactively manage your allocated area of responsibility to mitigate or negate any risks which may have a detrimental impact upon safety, guests, infrastructure or OTP.
• Attendance at safety-related committees, leadership meetings and training programmes to develop new policies and procedures pertaining to a safer, more resilient airport operation.
• Provision of a safety oversight function for third-party contractors conducting airside works ensuring safe working practices and adherence to relevant policies and procedures.
• Carry out Audits and CAMMS workplace inspections
As an Airfield Safety & Compliance Officer you will have a proven ability to build strong relationships and drive improvements through proactive engagement with a variety of stakeholders. You will have previous experience of working in a multifaceted operational environment in which there was a requirement to make safety-critical decisions. You will be a strong team player with a demonstratable ability of collaboratively problem-solving in a complex and dynamic environment, as well as being an effective communicator who is comfortable working under pressure.
Other skills required:
• Airfield operational experience would be desirable.
• Beneficial but not essential - demonstrate a knowledge of airfield operating procedures, the MA Aerodrome Manual and associated regulatory documentation.
• Must be in possession of clean and valid DVLA UK Driving License.
• Ability to work rotating 12 hour Day and Night shifts including weekends and bank holidays.
• Ability to work as part of a close team and working alone.
• Wildlife management around the aerodrome
• Must be comfortable using a firearm. Full firearm training will be provided.
