You’ll work collaboratively with the project delivery teams to apply the controls, standards and co-ordination to successfully deliver the project’s business outcomes to schedule and budget. You’ll provide early visibility of risks, issues and slippages to allow for any required proactive mitigation. You’ll support several projects simultaneously to a cumulative value of up to £50m or for portfolios of over 80 projects. You’ll have direct influence on approx. 10 project managers to complete assurance activities on time and to a high-quality level saving substantial time and effort through rework.
You’ll have at least 3 years’ experience of working effectively in a PMO function, working with project management methodologies (Prince 2 / MSP). You’ll have a good end to end understanding of taking initiatives from demand to delivery. You’ll be highly organised, with the ability to manage several tasks and fixed deadlines at any one time, with a good working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint. You’ll have excellent oral, written communication and presentation skills as well as the ability to summarise large amounts of delivery information into a concise update. You’ll have the confidence to form an opinion on project health and to get the supporting facts and feel comfortable challenging project managers when they don’t meet target dates or quality standards. To achieve this, you will need to demonstrate a strong understanding of project plans, financials, risk and issues.
