About the Role 

 

As a Financial Control Specialist in our Enterprise Finance team Europe you will be a part of the broader Financial Control (“FC”) Community of Practice. It is responsible for providing accounting and reporting activities to support the various branches and subsidiaries across ANZ Group in Europe, including provision of accurate and timely financial information ensuring accuracy and timeliness of month-end delivery requirements, registers, schedules, reconciliations, trial balance; and completion of accounting services to support financial and other monthly, quarterly and yearly reporting requirements.

 

This role includes compliance with requirements of the relevant local regulators and will provide some exposure to Group regulatory (APRA) reporting and local regulatory reporting. This includes monitoring and implementation of regulatory change. The role also includes occasional finance related support to our local business heads and functions.

 

Activities of a production nature are performed in a centralised manner off-shore, with on-shore FC team members reviewing outputs, providing guidance to the off-shore team and investigating unusual findings.

Role Type: 12 months Fixed Term Contract, Fulltime 

 

What will your day look like? 

 

As a Financial Control Specialist, you will: 

  •  Support the monthly financial close process, including finalisation of actuals, month on month analytical review and appropriate governance activities to support the integrity of the actuals.

  • Review and sign-off balance sheet reconciliations and supporting work papers on a timely/monthly basis for all designated entities, ensuring a robust balance sheet reconciliation and month end process is in place and adhered to.

  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders (including in-Country teams and CEOs) ensuring all needs are delivered.

  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with group finance and other management functions in order to enable effective exchange of information required to support general accounting services

  • Maintenance of process documentation in line with Group’s Reg Reporting Operating Model and Control Framework for Local Regulatory Reporting

  • Build collaborative relationships with stakeholders to enable business objectives to be achieved

 

What will you bring? 

 

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following: 

 

  •  Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or equivalent with practicing knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS)

  • Professional experience in Finance roles in banking/financial services sector

  • Experience with statutory and regulatory reporting within a banking/financial services environment

  • Expertise in commercial/wholesale banking and Markets products

  • Use of common Ledger and Consolidation systems (PeopleSoft General Ledger and Hyperion Financial Management, respectively, is an advantage)

  • Ability to quickly understand the system's landscape incl. interfaces, dependencies and shortcomings

  • Strong analytical skills. Ability to understand, interpret and articulate business operating principles, key drivers of business value, and operating levers

  • Strong understanding of controls and control frameworks

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence

  • Pro-active anticipation of and response to stakeholder requests/demands

  • Experience working with off-shore sites preferable

  • Ability to communicate is French will be an added advantage as this role may include interaction  with French speaking stakeholders including ANZ Paris Branch and French regulatory bodies, as well as reviewing French regulation.
