The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for assisting the Human Resources Manager (HRM) in supporting the HR program, policies, and initiatives for the U.S. Liebherr companies and operating divisions.
Responsibilities
Policies & Procedures:
Works closely with the HRGM in drafting U.S. policies and procedures. Studies the impact of legislation and supports compliance with federal and state laws.
Coordinates with applicable HR representatives to ensure compliance with company policies.
Immigration:
Works closely with the visa requester, HR, and U.S. Liebherr and foreign affiliate management to prepare draft visa packages for HRGM review.
Audits visa listing for accuracy and monitors upcoming visa expirations for renewal.
Ensures visa files are properly and consistently maintained.
Benefits Administration:
Studies impact of legislation on all plans and assists with ensuring compliance.
Assists with implementing and administering new and/or revised plans as well as open enrollment.
Participates as a team member in employee communications, including mailings.
Prepares new hire and termination packages.
Assists with preparation of Employee Newsletter.
Life & Disability Insurance: Maintains eligibility listing; reconciles monthly invoices and submits to accounting for payment and prepares employer’s statement for life premium waiver.
Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA): Reconciles monthly invoices and submits to accounting for payment.
Service Awards: Works with the Payroll Administrator to communicate annual service award recipients with applicable HR representatives.
Safety:
Workers’ Compensation: Prepares, audits and distributes monthly reports. Maintains monthly working hours by location and division for annual OSHA 300 reporting.
Occupational Medical Support: Researches, analyzes, and recommends medical facilities to support U.S. sites with more than 10 employees. Establish and maintain effective relationships.
Assists with random drug testing.
Monitors MVRs and assists with annual updates.
Staffing:
Recruits for position openings in LAM and other U.S. divisions which LAM HR supports.
Conducts new employee orientation and exit interviews. Conducts employee investigations and recommends action. Assists with responding to employee complaints and EEO claims.
Compensation and Performance Management:
Participates in salary surveys. Assists HRM with developing compensation systems, salary ranges, and job descriptions. Works with HRM and operating divisions to implement LIFT and
other LIN performance management programs.
Training & Development:
Assists HRM in creating and conducting management training courses. Researches external training courses and recommends courses/programs.
HRIS:
Maintains HR system(s) required for administrative reporting and communication purposes (i.e. Engage, ADP, SharePoint, etc.). Creates routine and custom reports.
Competencies
Education and Experience: A related Bachelor's degree and five years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of staff inside and outside of Liebherr.
Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
Ability to maintain discretion and handle sensitive information.
Solid working knowledge of employment, benefits, immigration, OSHA law.
Proficient in MS Office; internet and intranet software; payroll systems; and HRIS systems.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and calculate figures and amounts.
Demonstrated strong analytical and problem resolution skills.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions.
Travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of the time.
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver license and passport.
Ability to work a flexible work schedule required to support U.S. site locations and foreign affiliates.
