The Facilities Technician will ensure the operation of QinetiQ Hydrodynamic Tanks and Tunnels sited at Haslar, Gosport as state-of-the-art hydrodynamic test facilities.

The role:

The Facilities Technician will be responsible for supporting the facility managers with:

• The safe delivery of hydrodynamic test programmes
• Model test delivery
• Delivery of reliable test data
• Undertake planned and reactive maintenance of the capabilities to ensure day to day operational downtime is minimised

Day-to-day, you will be:

• Responsible for the safe operation of all facility equipment for which they have been trained and deemed competent to operate in accordance with any safe operating procedures.
• Responsible for aspects of the rigging and conduct of experiments in the facilities at Haslar as directed by the relevant Facility Manager.
• Responsible for undertaking daily safety / maintenance checks on the facilities as identified in the facility maintenance regimes.
• Responsible for ensuring that all equipment used within the facility is compliant with current legislation and displaying appropriate evidence of compliance (i.e. test label) and report non-compliant items to the Facility Manager.
• Provide support via the facility managers to colleagues and clients on aspects of the operation of facility as QinetiQ’s expert user to deliver experiments in the facilities.

Essential experience of the Facilities Technician:

• HND in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent practical knowledge and experience.
• Experience in machinery maintenance and facility operation.
