Do you want to work on exciting, difficult problems that deliver capabilities into the heart of our National Security customers that support their on-going mission of protecting the UK? Do you have experience in consultancy, project/program management or in leading technical projects?

 

At QinetiQ, we are investing in and growing our National Security team, with a number of focus areas particularly around Gloucestershire, Worcestershire and London. As part of this growth, we are also building capabilities across a number of disciplines and are looking for experienced consultants and project leads across a range of grades to join our team and contribute to shaping and developing the capability.

 

We are looking for people who want to work with government customers on their premises, understanding their mission and business objectives, helping them shape and deliver their future mission, working together to make the UK a safer and better place.

We are looking for people with experience in but not limited to the following disciplines:

We want to hear from you if you are:

  • Excited by the challenge of shaping something new and growing how we work for our customers
  • Driven by the excitement and challenge of helping our customers solve some of the most critical challenges faced in Defence and National Security
  • An experienced consultant looking to shape and lead teams, a technologist looking to apply their skills to a different challenge, or a government operational user wanting to link your experience into the growth of capability
  • Experienced with agile delivery methodologies and potentially have experience of their application at scale
  • Keen to work with our offsite teams to help us better integrate a broad range of existing and new capabilities both within our business and supplier ecosystems
  • Willing to work on customer sites several days a week, with your remaining time either in QinetiQ offices or remote
  • Currently hold the highest levels of UK Government clearance (or are eligible to obtain them. See here for more information: Gov.uk/Vetting)

Key Capabilities and Knowledge

  • Implementing organisational change management practices to support iterative/agile working
  • Stakeholder mapping and engagement
  • Organising and prioritising requirements using techniques such as - but not limited to - product roadmaps, epics, user stories and backlogs
  • Planning and leading workshops and interviews with stakeholders
  • Reconciling the customer’s vision with user requirements
  • Thorough understanding of Agile methodologies, including scaled-agile
  • Good and effective communication and inter-personal skills
  • Understands the operational environment and underlying domain-specific issues
  • Experience of working in highly technical and/or large government departments
  • Mapping value chain and benefits realisation
  • Articulation of option papers, mapping to end organisations’ strategic direction
  • Systems thinking and business process modelling
  • Risk management

ABOUT YOU

You will be passionate about working closely with your customers and keeping the UK safe. You may have a degree that may be in a related field. You might not, but might instead demonstrate how you have trodden the path for yourself and gained the skills and experience required to be successful in this role. We would expect you to have experience in most, but not all of the key capabilities. We like our consultants to be flexible and well-rounded, so will assess each candidate on their own merit.

QinetiQ pays competitively within the industry. The salary for this position is dependent upon your experience and is relative to our current people. It is vital to us that all our people are remunerated fairly, ensuring everyone feels valued. We assess seniority relative to the existing consulting team during the interviewing process.
