Initially the Senior Systems Engineer will be leading the acceptance of the Fort Halstead Chemical Laboratories and their transition into service.  Gathering evidence to support acceptance and signing off the System Requirements whilst providing a safe and certified environment for users. 

Once this is completed, there will be a transition to other investment projects: Lead the through-life technical delivery and systems engineering activity for projects or work packages developments that underpin Test, Trials, Training and Evaluation (T3E) activity.

The role:

You will largely work on projects that draw on existing technical expertise, whilst broadening systems engineering competencies and personal leadership skill sets.  As Senior Systems Engineer, there is scope to develop either deeper Subject Matter Expertise, System or Platform specialism and or Technical leadership and Systems skills.

You will work in conjunction with a project manager and lead multi-disciplinary teams on projects with support of broader technical community. The Senior Systems Engineer will contribute to development of best practice and growth of capability around you, mentoring and learning from others.

Day-to-day, you will be:

• Lead the technical delivery of T&E Systems’ projects or major work packages to time, cost and quality, working closely with project manager.
• Deliver systems engineering artefacts through project life; technical proposals, requirements gathering, solution definition, solution implementation, system integration, test, certification, acceptance and transition into service.
• Engage with engineering, operations, range, as well as other appropriate internal (T3E, IT, Property, Procurement) and external stakeholders (MOD, Suppliers) as needed to elicit, develop and refine requirements, lead solution implementation and manage technical risk.
• Tailor lifecycle and engineering governance approach in consultation with the Chief Engineer / representative; identifying critical safety and security elements early in lifecycle.

Essential experience of the Senior Systems Engineer:

• Demonstrable experience of leading multi-disciplinary project or work packages through engineering lifecycle
• Demonstrable experience of authoring systems engineering artefacts and delivering certified outcomes.
