Role Purpose
The primary role is to drive the development of the P3M capability including competency of our global P3M professionals, working closely with all Sectors and relevant Functions in support of the QinetiQ Global Operating Model and the One QinetiQ method of delivery.

This role will:

  • Support the Capability Manager and Group Lead to improve, agree and publish a QinetiQ P3M global Career Pathways and Competency Framework and work on continuous improvements which will support recruitment and retention
  • Support the Capability Manager and Group Lead to collaborate, engage and support our Sectors and relevant Functions in relation to P3M LCM Delegations
  • Support, provide guidance and advice in relation to training
  • Support conferences and other relation Project Management events
  • Support the recruitment, on-boarding and functionally manage the Project Management Early Careers, continuously developing and improving the process
  • Engage and support our Early Career Delivery Managers across placement rotations and PMO Placement Leads
  • Continue to develop the Graduate / Apprentice schemes
  • Support the Capability Manager and Group Lead to generate and support global communications in relation to P3M Professionalism
  • Supporting the Capability Manager with all Global Change Programmes

 

Accountabilities of the P3M Capability Manager

  • Support and promote a culture of investment in our people, community and open communications across all levels of project management in QinetiQ.
  • Support the interviewing, on boarding and functional management of Project Management Early Careers/Professionals.
  • Provide thought leadership to explore and challenge existing practice and culture to develop alternative innovative interventions and create an environment of Continuous Improvement.
  • Help to develop and support specific training as requested by the sectors
  • Help to support and occasionally deliver training if required
  • Through partnership and communication, engage with senior leaders and P3M community to create a collaborative working relationship that supports continuous improvement.

 

Experience & Qualifications of the P3M Capability Manager

  • Able to support and occasionally lead on PM capability initiatives across QinetiQ.
  • A background in project delivery at a project level or for a large PLC/Government Organisations or Consultancy.
  • Strong people, stakeholder and influencing skills.
  • Able to quickly establish personal and professional credibility, influence people and drive change.
  • A creative strategic thinker focused on delivering results.
  • Core competencies will include:
  • Leadership, Team-Working, Stakeholder Engagement, Integrated Planning - Attention to Detail, Logical, Flexibility, Pro-Active, Enthusiastic, Customer Centric, Results Driven, Innovative and Collaborative
  • In depth knowledge of Project Management skills, capabilities and competencies
  • Must hold APM PMQ qualification
