Transport Manager

 

Asahi UK are looking for a Transport Manager to join our prestigious Griffin Brewery in Chiswick, West London.

 

The Transport Manager is responsible for ensuring exceptional levels of compliance, related to running an own fleet transport operation (the incumbent will be the Operator’s Licence holder for Chiswick). Additionally you will be responsible for the delivery of high levels of service to customers in relation to outlet deliveries of Beer, Wine, Spirits and Soft Drinks, whilst closely managing costs.

 

Key Accountabilities

 

  • O-Licence holder for Chiswick fleet and operations. Ensure all relevant Fleet and Drivers are compliant with zero tolerance approach on defects – any such defects must be dealt with effectively
  • Ensure exceptional levels of Health & Safety ensuring all new recruits are fully trained (and documented); working closely with Lead Driver to keep training material up to date and relevant
  • Operational accountability for all of Chiswick’s Logistics activities
    • Deliver KPI targets on performance and efficiency, OTIF, fuel, and staff, 
    • Ensure that Drivers and Dray are giving a premium service to all our customers, resolving shortfalls quickly, limiting any negativity or grievances.
    • Escalation support for the Customer Service team within distribution.
  • Develop, measure, and report against a set of Logistics KPI’s – service, operational, and efficiency
  • Focus on cost to serve, working with the planning team to optimise our daily routes, ensuring that we are not incurring unnecessary costs.
  • Support the Distribution Manager in maintaining a rolling 5-year plan for all Fleet replacements, keeping up to date with changing legislation, looking at greener options and keeping ahead of the industry.
  • Work across functions and sites to drive a Continuous Improvement mindset with ownership through the organization
  • Develop and manage the capability of the team, ensuring it can meet the future demands of the business.

 

Experience and Competence Required

 

  • Strong Experience in Distribution and Warehousing Management at site level.
  • Proven track record of delivering operational improvements and efficiencies in the beer or similar FMCG business.
  • Strong Health and safety experience both in compliance and team engagement.
  • Strong and proven Leadership capability plus experience of developing both individual and team capabilities.
  • Proven capability in delivering behavioural change through engagement and performance management.
  • Strong business acumen, understanding priorities and functional requirements.
  • Strong communication skills; inspiring teams to embrace challenges & own the performance.
  • Problem analysis, judgment, decisiveness; independence; resilience.
  • Track record of delivering and exceeding KPI targets.
  • Transport Managers CPC Qualification.
  • Educated to degree level – desirable.
