Job Title: Head of Proposition – Future States (Long Term Savings)

Contract Type: Permanent

Location: Edinburgh or Alderley Edge or London

Working style: Hybrid 50% home/office based

We are delighted to announce that Royal London is recruiting for a Head of Proposition role.

 

The role will lead the strategic development of the Long Term Savings proposition set, sponsoring large scale programmes to deliver significant enhancements in capabilities over the medium term. You will be overseeing the vision, owning the delivery roadmap, leading large cross-functional teams, prioritising key deliverables and milestones to meet customer needs, maximising business value, and driving a culture of continuous improvement.

 

You will be a key part of Royal London’s UK Customer function, strengthening the mutual choice for customers.

 

About the role

 

  • In this role you will have a strong understanding of Royal London’s strategy, and the requirements for success in the Long Term Savings markets (Individual Pensions and ISAs; and Workplace pensions). Working closely with the Heads of Proposition for those markets, you will understand the current state and short term priorities, and lead on proposition development with a longer-term time horizon and more strategic-level impact.
  • You will combine product-specific business and technical requirements with a deep understanding of customer needs and market dynamics, to determine and clearly articulate a suitable strategy and roadmap for strategic investments.
  • You will negotiate and influence prioritisation of the biggest impact changes, ensuring proposition(s) will be fit for the future and contribute to delivery of RL’s strategy.
  • You will sponsor large-scale programmes and lead cross functional teams, spotting issues early and applying significant leadership skills to oversee successful delivery against requirements – working closely with Change professionals.
  • You will chair the relevant governance group, acting as the lead proposition expert, responsible for the technical excellence of the solution, literature, and overall impact on the proposition(s).
  • You will oversee adherence to the Group Risk and Compliance frameworks and the Group Proposition Development process.
  • You will collaborate with the wider business to ensure propositions and business architecture are being deployed appropriately and consistently and are set up for success in attraction and retention of target customers.
  • You will lead colleagues (direct team and programme team) to deliver strong performance through motivating and engaging them, developing their capability and by living the Spirit of Royal London Leadership Principles and values.

 

About you

 

  • Strong expertise of relevant propositions, business architecture, processes, and markets, maintaining up to date knowledge and including understanding of competitors’ propositions and strategies.
  • Ability to translate broader business strategy into functional (proposition) strategy and create clear direction for the team, working with relevant experts from other functions.
  • Ability to influence at a senior level, based on solid understanding of products, strategy and business direction, and excellent communication skills.
  • Strong people leadership, inspiring teams to work collaboratively to meet ambition and continuously thrive for high performance.
  • Experience of management of intermediated propositions and/or direct to consumer propositions, driving customer trust, customer value, understanding and engagement.
  • Experience of proposition development at large scale.
