As our business grows to meet modern day demands, we’re looking for an ambitious and Solutions focused individual to come and work in our Communications team and alongside our ever-expanding Capital & Commercial Services (CCS) team, as a Senior Stakeholder Engagement Manager. 

Our CCS business create, develop, and implement Severn Trent’s ambitious and innovative construction projects (all 5000+ of them) which help to combat the challenges of waste and water infrastructure, flooding and water quality. As an organisation we’re investing over £2billion into construction projects over the next five years to improve the services we provide to our customers and communities and this role will be key to our success!

In this newly created role for the business, we’ll be looking for you to work across all areas and play an integral part in managing internal and external relationships with a variety of important individuals and organisations. This may include MPs, Councillors, Local Authorities, environment groups, community organisations and our various regulators.

You will ensure we have a clear stakeholder strategy from design through to delivery, ensuring it is incorporated and embedded in all work and engagement activities, as well as collaborating with colleagues across the company to develop and deliver a strategic programme of engagement across our region, helping to reduce complaints, create advocacy and protecting and enhancing Severn Trent’s reputation.

Other Key activities include:-

• Lead on the development and delivery of our community stakeholder strategy ensuring it aligns with the broader communications strategy and CMEX approach.
• Develop the external messaging and channel strategy for our regional stakeholders, ensuring we can effectively communicate with them and provide them with the essential information they need and when we’re working in their area.
• Work closely with the Comms team and wider business to produce an E2E stakeholder journey using compelling communications content.
• Oversee all relevant regional stakeholder communications.
• Engage with operational and management teams to make sure that communications land effectively with key stakeholders and our communities.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

The right skills and experience are important. But if you have the right character, positivity and a caring attitude we want to talk to you, too.

We will be looking for you to have a strong background in communications and engagement, coupled with extensive stakeholder experience gained in either the public or private sector. We’ll want you to be ideally politically astute, bringing external insight into our decision-making processes and driving improvements that will enhance the company’s reputation externally and managing risk. Excellent influencing and relationship building skills will be key to play an active role responding to operational incidents.

As you can imagine this role will involve travelling to various different event and meetings, with some meetings being outside of normal working hours.  You will also receive a car allowance for the travel.
