We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our Green Recovery Smart Metering team, as a Field Technician initially on a 12-month Secondment. In this role you’ll cover in and around Birmingham, specifically SY1-5, therefore it would be ideal if you’re local.

In this role you’ll play a direct role in our ambitious to install 250,000 Smart Meters by March 2025 as part of our AMP 8 accelerated Smart Metering project. You’ll responsible for installing thousands of meters across Birmingham , whilst ensuring our health and safety obligations are met to the highest standard.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW  



Our Field Technicians will be responsible for:

 

  • Carrying out smart metering installations across SY1-SY5.
  • Liaise with the programs key stakeholders internally and externally.
  • Ensuring that all installations are completed standards and are accurately recorded in our systems.
  • Take full responsibility for compliance and promotion of safe working practices. Reporting any unsafe practices immediately to reduce risks to others.
  • Directly communicating with customers on jobs to ensure they are kept informed, with the potential to deal with escalated customers.

 

 

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE 

 

 

As a Field Technician you will have experience working in the utilities industry whilst engaging with internal and external stakeholders, contract partners and customers.

 

We’re seeking experience installing meters whilst managing customer complaints and escalations.

 

This will require excellent understanding of health and safety procedures with a clear understanding of regulatory policies including Water Regulations, Electrical Installations Standards and WRAS.

 

 

You’ll also need a full UK driving licence with travelling as part of the role. An NVQ level 2 in plumbing or similar qualification is desirable.

Our ideal candidate will be a self-motivated and customer focused individual with a strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving abilities this will be key when spotting anomalies or inconsistencies, aiming to find a solution.
