Senior Programme Manager - New Product Development at Severn Trent
Coventry, United Kingdom

Job Descrption

Our purpose is taking care of life’s essentials, but we’re also big on making a difference, not just because we should but because we care.

AMP8, our next five-year regulatory period, will see us launch our biggest and most complex investment programme of almost £13bn, of which £6bn will be delivered through our capital programme.

This is more than double the size of the AMP7 capital programme and is an opportunity to drive real change.

Our new Plug and Play approach will be a collection of common parts that can be connected in different ways and work together (like rigs or tanks). They can be mixed and matched to create a whole range of different products.

Picture this as your ready-made catalogue of standard products. You can simply select the parts you need and then they arrive ready to go all in one.

This is a game-changing plan which really will save us significant time and cost.

This new innovative approach will help to combat the challenges of waste and water infrastructure, flooding and water quality.

Be a part of something bringing benefits to our communities, health outcomes and environment.

Our Plug & Play methodology will enable us to build smarter, faster, safer, greener, and more affordable projects.

It could be the biggest challenge of your career. If you want to do more because you care, we’d love to talk to you.

 .

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

We’re looking for a Senior Programme Manager to join our Plug & Play team project as part of Strategic Capital Programmes. There is flexibility in terms of office location for this role in either Coventry or Derby – however it is expected regular travel to be expected due to the nature of the role.

This role encompasses a wide array of key accountabilities.

Firstly, you'll collaborate closely with internal design, commercial teams, and stakeholders to ensure the efficient delivery of programmes. Additionally, you'll be tasked with leading a team of project managers and external partners, fostering a culture of challenge and adaptability.

Your responsibilities extend to identifying and evaluating new programmes for future business value and efficiency, as well as cultivating strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery. Moreover, you'll oversee gate approval submissions, undertake financial management and risk mitigation for projects, and ensure compliance with legislation while driving innovative work practices.

Furthermore, a crucial aspect of your role involves developing technical and leadership capabilities within the team, alongside managing resources and budgets for the Programme Team.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

We are looking for a candidate with extensive expertise in influencing diverse stakeholders to achieve programme objectives, managing early-stage development programmes amidst rapid change, and leading high-risk, high-complexity projects.

The successful candidate will have experience in responsible team leadership to effectively manage team performance in a changing environment and build high-performing teams. Smart influencing skills are essential for involving others for optimal outcomes and effective communication.

You will have a strong commercial drive to seek innovative solutions, anticipate challenges, and drive financial efficiency. Clear thinking is vital to tackle issues beyond your remit, make educated judgments, and innovate.

The right skills and experience are important. But if you have the right character, positivity and a caring attitude we want to talk to you, too.

We welcome people from all walks of life and celebrate individuality as we know diverse minds, experiences and backgrounds help us to learn and better serve our communities.

We want people who show up and get involve. Those who are ready to be part of something bigger and who want to make a difference because they care. Is that you?
