EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
Our Waste Water Recycling team have a great opportunity for you to join as our new Maintenance Mechanical Installation Technician.
The role will consist of reacting to failures and planned improvement works across Worksop on a wide range of installations situated mainly on sewage pumping stations and sewage treatment works where you will be carrying out replacement of assets (including but not exhaustive) pipework, valves and flow meters, pumps, screening equipment scraper bridge equipment, Bearings and stub shafts, gearboxes and drive units.
There will also be a need to support the local maintenance teams in carrying out planned and breakdown maintenance activity on a wide range of mechanical wastewater assets when required. You must have sound diagnostic and problem-solving skills. Basic fabrication skills are also required along with good general knowledge of workshop practice.
The role holder is likely to be based at one of our main sewage treatment works dependant on home location but will mainly start from home straight to site working throughout the local geographical area. You will be provided with a vehicle for business use, laptop and safety clothing appropriate to the job. The position offers an opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking team working on a variety of equipment and assets, where you will have the opportunity to embrace curiosity and develop new skills outside of your normal day to day activities.
Any additional technical training required will also be covered and great working hours too (Monday - Thursday 7.30am-3.30pm and Friday 7.30am-3pm).
The successful candidate will participate in a 24/7 stand-by rota.
In this role you’ll help with preventive maintenance working techniques and practices and be able to bring significant experience of working with industrial equipment (mechanical drives, gearboxes, hydraulic systems, pumps). You’ll undertake fault diagnostics and have the ability to resolve issues in a timely manner.
You’ll be expected to know how to work with process control systems and have a working knowledge of industrial electrical installation requirements and standards. In Severn Trent we use a number of different devices on the job so your experience working with various IT systems will be great.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
To be a success in this role, along with your experience we will be looking for you to have obtained a NVQ level 3 mechanical qualification and also have completed a relevant apprenticeship to help you in the role. A full UK driving licence will be required for the role.
