The Technical Architect is responsible for ensuring agreed design principles are adopted and maintained across all new technologies. Candidates will have to have experience of managing and maintaining sound architectural principles.
You will be working within a dynamic team of technical architects on a wide range of technologies. You will be working with enterprise applications, and you will also be working with the Technical Design Architects to define roadmaps and to support project implementation for infrastructure and cloud-based services, servicing the needs of business colleagues within Welsh Water. A key element of this role will be liaising with Welsh Water’s IT Framework Partners, providing appropriate guidance and governance within agreed architectural principles and standards around the systems you will design.
Principal Accountabilities:
Technical
• Accountable for the design of technologies that work with other solutions in the DCWW estate
• Accountable for the design of technologies on infrastructure
• Production of designs to facilitate the implementation of new cloud services in support of business requirements and project delivery.
• Production of designs for 24x7x365 availability of core infrastructure services, in line with agreed Service Levels
Management
• To help with staff recruitment for Architecture as and when required
• Support the ITS management team where specific problems require specialist support (Incident & Problem management, Change management, Programme Management Office)
• Attend ITS forums as appropriate.
• To meet with managers to guide technology roadmaps.
Reporting
• Weekly reports will be produced showing progress against outstanding milestones, status, resource requirements, issues, risks and dependencies.
• Monthly reporting on service availability by key service
Deliverables
• Architectural Artefacts and designs to support projects in the Cloud
• Aid management with the Technology Roadmaps and other Architectural artefacts in line with the Architectural document set.
• Business cases defining the costs and benefits associated with requested changes when required.
• Chief Technology Officer • ITS Senior Leadership Team
• Senior DCWW staff • ITS Service Analysts
• ITS Partners and 3rd party contractors
• All DCWW IT users
