With a hybrid approach to working, you’ll be accountable for the associated delivery of CDM Regulations 2015 and associated / applicable H&S legislation across the capital delivery function, by ensuring the best systems, process, guidance and support is available across your responsible area and ensure DCWW’s interests are always protected and that risks to the business are identified and minimised through effective collaboration.
Principal Accountabilities:
• Provide suitable, sufficient advice and assistance to DCWW (the client) with respect to the appointment of competent Principal Contractors, Principal Designers, Designers, Contractors, and associated others.
• Ensure that adequate arrangements are in place for managing projects, schemes etc.
• Notify and liaise with the HSE. This will entail processing and issuing F10 notification paperwork.
• Review design work, project planning and other preparatory preconstruction activities relating to health and safety. This will entail dialogue with Designers and Contractors and attendance at preconstruction meetings.
• Support the capital teams in managing H&S in the pre-construction phase and during the construction, ensuring we have met our CDM obligations as client and principal designer, this can include, but not limited to
o Pre-construction Information
o Design review
o Construction Phase Plans
o H&S Files
• Stakeholder management with the capital management ensuring details of their H&S performance are reviewed and where necessary, measures are put in place to ensure the continuous improvement of the management system.
• To provide CDM expertise and health and safety advice for engineered solutions and provide support to Capital teams.
• Ensure project H&S risks are suitably and sufficiently identified, recognised and on doing so effectively managed, to reduce the associated risks to the lowest practicable measures.
• Be the point of contact for the regional project teams on matters of health and safety during the construction phase. Providing support and mentoring to members of the delivery team.
• Assist where required and complete inspection/audit programs in order that effective and proportionate measurement of contractor performance can be made in terms of health and safety compliance, and on doing so (where required) report findings for collaborative improvement.
• Assist where required in the establishment and delivery of health and safety improvement initiatives such as toolbox talks, safety alerts, guidance documents etc. in order to highlight and sustain levels of awareness and best practice.
• Assisting in the delivery of designated Health, Safety & Wellbeing Forums for the key supply chain
• Contribute to the collation of Health & Safety performance data in readiness for the completion of monthly board reports.
• Support incident investigations and ensure root cause are fully identified with any lessons learnt being shared amongst interested parties.
• Undertaking any other duties as required to meet the needs of the business
