What you’ll be responsible for

 

 

Your role will be to assist the Senior Activity Instructor and the instructor team to safeguard and assist members of the public who undertake water sports, land based and team building activities from Monday to Sunday during the season. You will be smart and presentable, and able to communicate in an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and helpful way to visitors, projecting a positive image for Welsh Water at all times.

 

Activities offered at the site include sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, kayaking, paddleboarding, raft building, archery, axe throwing and laser clay pigeon shooting.

 

The successful candidate for this role will:

 

• Assist in the delivery of the activity program for customers visiting the reservoir, including any associated organised team building programs and land based activities.

• Present a professional attitude and appearance and at all times maintain an excellent level of customer service and water safety. Engage with visitors as an ambassador of Welsh Water.

• Ensure the health and safety of everyone using the facilities of the site.

• Ensure maintenance, repair and security of all Welsh Water equipment and facilities are of a continued high standard in order to exceed the requirements of our customers.

• Work proactively as part of a team to set up and pack up on site facilities and provide assistance to all customers using the equipment at the centre.

• Take part in the team rota that will involve working midweek & weekends.

• Serving customers in the reception, handling activity enquiries and managing bookings as required.

• Enforce the rules of the site and the waterside, especially the ‘no swimming in reservoirs’ rule, the opening and closing times, and the safe marshalling of visitors during busy periods.

• Support conservation, educational, public access and recreational activities, open days, and events.

• Carry out any other tasks as required for the effective management of the site, as directed by the Senior Instructor or Activity Manager.

We have just opened our  brand-new Visitor Attraction site at Lisvane Llanishen, North Cardiff, which is open all year round. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone wishing to join Welsh Water. The site boasts, a state-of-the-art Visitor Attraction building with 200 cover restaurant, balcony with views over both reservoirs, group and cubicle changing rooms, both land and water based activities, education learning space, bird hides & islands, meeting rooms and a Grab & Go.

About you

 

No prior experience or qualifications are required, however, we are looking for individuals who are honest and professional, have great communication skills and the the ability to work on own initiative. We use a variety of computer systems but full training will be provided

 

The following qualifications or skills however would be preferable:


• Appropriate National Governing Body (NGB) Certification in designated water sports discipline. e.g. RYAStart Windsurfing / Sailing
• Current Recognised First Aid Certificate/British Canoe Union (BCU) Qualification
• Experience delivering water or land-based activities 
• Lifeguard Qualification
• Ability to speak Welsh
