What you’ll be responsible for

 

You will be working at our fantastic visitor attraction site at Elan Valley which is open all year round. Our Visitor Centre is complete with Café, Exhibition area, Gift Shop and Bike Hire. Your role will be to engage with our customers and supporting them with the use of our Bike Hub; ensuring a high standard of health and safety at all times. You will also:

 

  1. Provide excellent customer service; meeting, greeting and helping every visitor gain the most from their visit.
  2. Overseeing  the hire of the bikes and daily operations of the bike hub. 
  3. Responsible for bike safety cover. 
  4. Work proactively as part of a team to set up and pack away on site facilities and provide assistance to all customers using equipment at the site.
  5. Ensure the safety of all persons on site, including employees and members of the public. Follow company procedures for reporting incidents.
  6. Handle bike hub activity and booking enquiries and take payments on the till as required.
  7. Present a professional attitude and appearance at all times, maintaining an excellent level of customer service. Communicate in an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and helpful way to visitors, projecting a positive image for Welsh Water at all times.
  8. Ensure maintenance, repair, security and cleanliness of the bikes and bike hub is kept to a  continued high standard in order to exceed the requirements and expectations of our customers.
  9. Work with the Ranger team on  the upkeep and tidiness of the site; litter picking, toilet cleaning, building and site maintenance.
  10. Support conservation, educational, public access and recreational activities, open days and events.
  11. Undertake any other duties as required to meet the needs of the business, including providing support to other departments (such as the café or Ranger team) when required.

About you


Knowledge, Skills & Experience

 

  • Enthusiastic about putting our customers first every day    
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills    
  • IT literate – we use a variety of computer systems which we will teach you    
  • Always honest and professional


If you do not have the following experience or qualifications that's ok we will teach out, but if you do that's great:

 

 

  • Previous experience working with bikes
  • Previous experience in customer facing role
  • MIAS level 2 or equivalent (training will be provided)
  • Cytech Mechanic or equivalent (training will be provided)
  • First Aid Qualifications

 

Good to know

 

  • Elan Valley is situated in the county of Powys in mid-Wales and can be accessed easily from the nearby town of Rhayader, which is well served by public transport. 
  • Casual position available with variable hours including regular weekend and bank holidays (hours between 9am and 6pm with a flexible working approach)
