What you’ll be responsible for

 

As a Production Technician you will:

 

  • Operate Water Treatment Works and associated water pumping stations to company BMS and Health & Safety requirements
  • Monitor and manage SCADA alarms from two additional treatment works within the defined geographical area out of hours. Carry out remote control of assets including pump resets and pass specific alarms to operational teams for further analysis if needed.
  • Take responsibility for continued abstraction of water via Prioress Mill RWPS, ensuring water abstraction data is inputted daily. 
  • Control chemical and other stock levels and consumables by control and management of purchasing via SAP. To monitor and control expenditure to meet budgetary targets
  • To induct, supervise and manage outside contractors carrying out revenue and reactive capital maintenance breakdowns and projects ensuring full compliance to Health & Safety and BMS requirements and ensuring quality control
  • To liaise with ME & I craftsmen on revenue and reactive capital maintenance work.
  • Liaise and plan work with network supervisors and operatives to ensure uninterrupted supply when plant shut downs are required for maintenance and other associated work required on site
  • To participate in arrangements and cover for annual leave and sickness for area of operation.
  • Liaise and co-ordinate with area Supervisor and team members on operating activities and to formulate effective and efficient cost reductions plans and savings

  • Strong working relationships within the Area Production Team
  • Advice and support from the Production Engineers, Process Control and Craftsmen
  • Liaison with local Distribution Team

External

  • Liaison with Environment Agency
  • Liaison and co-ordination of suppliers and contractors

About you

 

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

 

 

  • NVQ Level 2 or higher, BTEC, ONC / HNC qualifications in Water Treatment Process Operations 
  • Computer systems literate    
  • An understanding of Company management procedures and Health and Safety requirement and control
  • Previous experience gained in the industry with use of SCADA systems, Instrumentation and Mechanical and Electrical equipment 
  • Understanding of compliance and health and safety issues
  • Awareness of regulatory bodies such as DWI and Environment Agency
  • Knowledge when dealing with control of abstraction under licence at raw water intakes

Good to know

 

 

  • Site based 8am-4pm (3.30pm on Friday)
  • 2 weekends in 6
  • Standby 1-5 currently but moving to 1 in 6
  • Company van included
