What you’ll be responsible for


 

As Asbestos Surveyor you will:

 

  • Inspect a diverse range of assets for asbestos and recommend ongoing actions as necessary to ensure effective management of asbestos at DCWW assets including management surveys, demolition and refurbishment surveys and re-inspections.
  • Ensure all asbestos surveys and risk assessments are carried out consistently to the appropriate standards across DCWW asset base and in accordance with Asbestos and Health and Safety legislation and in line with the company Asbestos Management Plan.
  • Engage and manage specialist asbestos contractors on DCWW sites engaged in the removal, repair or maintenance of asbestos containing materials (ACMs) in accordance with relevant Asbestos and Health and Safety Legislation and best practice.  Including project management of any enabling works and surveys e.g. ecology surveys, re-instatement works.
  • Provide specialist knowledge and expert advice to the Operations, Capital Delivery team and Capital Partners on management and removal of asbestos.
  • Develop and maintain good working relations with Operations, Property, Developer Services, Asset Strategy, Local Asset Management, Health and Safety and Talent Development teams.
  • Ensure all asbestos surveys, risk assessments and removal works are recorded in MICAD, our asbestos management database.
  • Liaise with the Capital Partners and EDT to ensure that all Asbestos Surveys and remedial work they carry out are captured and recorded in MICAD.   
  • Analyse frequency of inspections and material risk assessments to develop business case for removal of ACMs within suitable timescales.
  • Carry out investigations into any asbestos incidents or exposures.
  • Prepare or review risk assessments and method statements for asbestos work as required. 
  • Develop and review relevant training material related to asbestos for use across the business. Including production of materials, updating training from feedback and delivery of targeted training sessions or presentations to colleges and capital partners.
  • Monitor and manage the operation of the MICAD database. Setting up access for individuals and teams and producing usage reports for managers.
  • Work closely with the IMS team to maintain BS EN ISO 9001 accreditation for quality management for the team within the DCWW quality management system. 
  • Manage the asbestos surveying and removal budget for DCWW, forecasting and prioritising work and ensuring funds are available in time to complete it. 
  • Update and review the DCWW Asbestos Management Plan annually and as required, ensuring it is appropriate to the needs of the business and compliant with legislation. Write procedures, roles and responsibilities and safe systems of work for use across DCWW.
  • Produce internal guidance documents on asbestos for all aspects of the business e.g. toolbox talks, e-quiped bulletins and guidance notes.

About you

 

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

 

  • Experience all types of premises surveys, with particularly industrial and commercial experience.
  • BOHS P402 Surveying and Sampling Strategies for Asbestos in Buildings Qualification
  • BOHS P405 Management of Asbestos in Buildings Qualification
  • Membership of FAAM (preferred)
  • Relevant health and safety qualification – e.g. NEBOSH certificate
  • Management of Contractors – AP(C)
  • Project Management experience (preferred)

  • Flexible working between Home, Office, and Site
  • 37 hours Mon -Fri
  • Based in the South with the requirement to work in all South Operating area locations.
