As a credible member of the Water Quality Team you will:
• Contribute to the safeguarding public health through the provision of clean safe drinking water that maintains the trust of customers.
• Ensure that the company’s statutory and regulatory responsibilities with regard to drinking water quality are met and regulatory risk to the business is managed effectively.
As a Laboratory Technician (Sample Reception) you will:
• Support the smooth running of the South Wales Laboratory by assisting in the analysis of potable water samples.
• Provide support to the sampling staff and couriers and contribute to the running of the sample reception area within the South Wales Laboratory.
• Adhere to all relevant regulations, legislation and certifications
• Understand and adhere to the Laboratory Quality System and the instructions there in.
• Understand the importance of the role in effective monitoring of water quality for protection of public health.
• To support the overall objectives of the laboratory services team to effectively monitor water quality for the purpose of protecting public health.
• Provide logistical support to the laboratory, receiving and logging-in samples to the company LIMS system and ensuring sample bottles are stored in the correct location and under the correct conditions.
• Facilitate, prepare and despatch all subcontract analysis

• Ideally educated to A Level or equivalent in a science subject
• Basic computing skills
• Some experience of laboratory practices familiarity with laboratory techniques and equipment is desirable.
• Practical, methodical and able to follow detailed written instructions with attention to detail
• Working knowledge of COSHH and Health and Safety is desirable
• Team working skills
• Able to prioritise and plan workload
• Based at our Glaslyn Laboratory, Cleppa Park, Newport
Mon-Fri: 3 week rota
Week 1 – 12pm – 8pm
Week 2 – 7.45am – 3.45pm
Week 3 – 12pm – 8pm
Sat & Sun 1pm-5pm (1 in 4)
