What you’ll be responsible for

 

As a Leakage Technician you will:

 

  • Lead on the reduction of leakage in areas with leakage issues, determining what people and methods will be required to deliver each specific project to a point of resolution where leakage is sustainably reduced, or Capital investment is identified to deliver a leakage reduction solution.
  • The successful candidate is required to have excellent knowledge of water network hydraulic principles combined with the ability to apply this experience on any problematic network.
  • Gaining ownership of DMA’s that have long standing leakage issues despite multiple detection interventions and identifying what method of detection would be required and which colleague has the experience to deliver this programme of works.
  • Creation of a program of works to resolve long standing leakage issues within the defined DMA
  • ensuring that activities, people and timelines have been identified to allow the specified project to be managed.
  • Deliver the specified project to a point where leakage levels are sustainably reduced or
  • Capital solutions are identified to reduce leakage.
  • Support targeting meetings, advising on the best method of detection for an area.
  • Delivery of pre-briefing and debriefing sessions to the detection teams.
  • Support the up-skilling of leakage detection colleagues when required via leakage reduction projects.
  • Make recommendations for the improvement of the potable network that will improve the
  • stability of the network to reduce potential future leakage issues.
  • To undertake other duties as necessary.

About you

 

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

 

  • Educated to BTEC / HNC in a relevant subject or previous related experience of water network operation and maintenance.
  • Relevant experience in the water industry ideally working in one or more of the following areas: distribution, leakage, hydraulics or customer service.
  • Have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word, PMAC, Libra, LMARS and SAP Production.
  • The ability to develop positive working relationships across the Distribution team and wider organisation.
  • The ability to communicate with external and internal bodies with regard to network / leakage performance.
  • Able to demonstrate the Technical ability to identify network issues and implement improvements.
  • Able to work as part of a team and on your own initiative with excellent attention to detail and able to work under pressure.

 

 

Good to know

 

  • Full UK driving licence required
  • Hybrid  working but mainly office based
  • Monday to Thursday 8am - 4pm, Friday 8am - 3:30pm
  • Requirement to participate in standby rota (1 in 6) and 260 hours of planned overtime with additional earning potential of up to £3000 a year
