What you’ll be responsible for

 

As Operational Supervisor you will:

 

  • Provide line manager support to the Area Performance Manager. 
  • Ensure distribution colleagues work safely, delivering operational and maintenance activities, whilst achieving full compliance in water quality and environmental standards
  • Effective Asset Management in accordance with company IMS procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure public health is never compromised when delivering planned and reactive maintenance activities
  • Achieve Water Service business budget yearly
  • Develop a resource plan which will deliver high levels of performance in line with budget and achieve industry leading cost to serve
  • Manage change across operational teams, create high performing teams to deliver leading industry performance  
  • Monitor and manage area team performance to ensure high level water distribution targets are achieved
  • Manage Health and Safety performance across the operation area through STEP, TRACA, working on pressurised pipelines and other company procedures 
  • Achieve health and safety unit assessment compliance monthly, providing supplementary evidence
  • Ensure area financial budgets are achieved
  • Use SRM to procure bought in services and materials to ensure best value is achieved across the business
  • Customer service is delivered to achieve Ofwat CMEX upper quartile measure
  • Distribution operation and maintenance activities are delivered to the highest quality and environmental standards
  • Achieve customer acceptability measure of success through network cleansing/ maintenance techniques
  • Deliver planned work effectively to protect public health, customers drinking water supply
  • Manage quality and service to customers to ensure Zero Operational reportable incidents to the DWI 
  • Achieve the company leakage reduction target by delivering industry leading private leakage performance. 

Who you’ll work with

 

Internal

  • Strong working relationships within the PWS team – including supervisors, managers, staff and staff representatives
  • Regular liaison with  asset strategy, capital delivery, water quality, emergency planning, H&S and operational control and customer contact centre
  • Advice and support from the procurement, finance and HR teams
  • Liaison with internal audit teams
  • Liaison with business improvement groups 

External

  • Key contract partners to ensure Bought in Services are being executed safely, cost effectively and at appropriate levels of service
  • Local authorities and emergency planning groups
  • DWI as required in support of the Water Quality team
  • Health and Safety Executive as required

About you

 

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

 

  • BTEC in Water Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Proven supervisory experience including network management knowledge and ability to demonstrate a proven track record of success
  • Experience gained through thorough understanding of distribution network and variable components
  • Experience of managing operational teams, inspiring and motivating teams, successfully implementing initiatives, managing change and developing an effective team
  • Able to demonstrate experience of working and achieving leakage targets with the technical ability to assess risks to water quality, review asset performance and implement improvement actions
  • Able to demonstrate experience of working and achieving customer and water quality targets with the technical ability to assess risks to water quality, review asset performance and implement improvement actions

  • Vehicle allowance included (£5k)
  • Requirement to participate in Bronxe level standby roat (1 in 6)
